Depth Charger by SneakyLemon

LD_DeeperAndDeeper.png

I initially wanted to include a lot more enemies and maybe have it keep getting darker while going deeper. This is what I was able to do on time. The terrain is sloped and you keep going deeper, even though the effect is not as pronounced as I hoped it would be.

Controls: WSAD - Movement limited to an area Left Mouse Button - Fire projectiles Space - Shoot a torpedo once every five seconds

Cool game! A restart button would have been nice.

@ludumdaredevil yeah, I tried. I spawn some stuff in OnDestroy (Unity), and I realized too late that it completely broke if I added a restart button. Thanks for checking it out!

@iaandrei Thanks! Those old style shooters was the feeling I was going for :)

The gameplay for this is good, would definitely benefited from a restart option.

Perspective was a little bit odd. Things I thought below me were actually in front and vice versa.
Shooting and dodging got me hooked though.

Simple game but good for a compo ;) Choosing to work in 3D is a major challenge in these conditions so congratulations !
With a restart button, less life for bombs to encourage shooting mechanics, and a score could enhance the fun in your game I think ;)

Great entry for only one creator. I really suck at your game, but that isn't your fault. xD
I get further when just avoiding than try to shoot something.^^

Really like the shooter aspect of the game, the sound effects for shooting felt really good and exploding a mine from a distance was great. The mine, and especially the ship look really good. Wish the mines didnt have so much health as it was pretty much not worth even shooting at them and it was better to just focus on avoid them all. Not sure if it was just me but the torpedo didnt work, it kinda just sat where I shot it. Soemtimes the explosions would cover the screen making it hard to see where my ship is. The game is a bit on the short side, would have been cool if it was endless even with just the mines (maybe you could have just repeated the same terrain but have it start at a lower elevation?). The game was listed as a jam so I'm giving a rating and comment I would to a jam game but someone mentioned this is a compo in the comments so I'm sorry if that was the case.

Very nice graphics and audio! However i found it quite hard to aim since the perspective is a little odd.

Nice! The graphics were good and the sound effects were really well done. As others have mentioned, having to reopen the game to retry was kinda rough and the bombs seem to have too much health to be worth shooting (I actually ended up just dodging them instead of shooting them). The aiming was a bit difficult due to the perspective, and some scoring would have been a good way to incentivize shooting the mines. Overall though nice job!

Great entry for a single person! Did a similar game with another person, so it's impressive to see how much you did solo. As the other folks said, probably worth making the mines a little weaker as dodging them is currently the only safe option. Also would put some indicator that you're at the edge of the playable space. Camera angle is a little funky, but probably something that would be sorted out if you had more time.

Annoying that you need to restart the program everytime and the camera angle is difficult but the concept is nice and the game is only lacking in the execution. I also like the sounds.

i found the exploding mines in the camera a little bit annoying, it was really hard to see what im targeting. loved the graphics, the shooting sounds were satisfying, fantastic job !

Not bad. Having to restart the game was annoying (as everyone else has probably already said).
It takes so many shots to destroy a mine I ended up not bothering and just dodging instead. Too bad since the explosions are quite satisfying.
Managed to get to the end after a few tries.

I love the sound effects and visuals in this game. The gameplay is okay, but it feels a bit unfinished. But overall interesting little jam game.
