Monster Revolt by AndreSilvs

[raw]
made by AndreSilvs for LD33 (COMPO)
My first game entered for the LD. (Note that it's missing many things)
This is a platform game where you play as a monster instead of the usual player. The players are your enemies but they still act like any player would: they'll try to kill you, collect bonuses and get the special blocks all to themselves.

* Left, Right Arrows - Move
* Space - Jump/Double Jump
* X - Attack

Well, good game, the IA is not too easy to kill. I would have liked the ham give some life!

A few other kinds of attacks and a way to heal up would be nice, but those are usually luxuries for players not monsters.

I like the classic platformer style of this game. It was a nice little fun game to play.
I did, however, get a NullReferenceException error on the End screen.

Ooops, my bad, I think I found the error. It happens when you end and one of the player's is still alive.

Simple but fun ! The controls have some problems, sometimes the player would keep moving although I didn't press any button. I liked the messages of the players, that was a fun idea.

Good game. I liked the the player would hit the blocks the reveal the contents, but it would have been nice if he could have picked them up as well (adding the the feel that he's the "hero" of the game playing through). I think it would have been nice if the meat replenished life as well. The hero AI on the platforms and combat was really good. Great job.

I agree with others that I would have loved that picking meat gives HP back (but there are checkpoints and infinite number of lives so I can go without it) and that heroes try to pick items they reveal by hitting blocks. If you really want to push your concept further, I think that the monster should be starting at the far right of the level, with the objective being at the left side. Heroes are the ones usually moving from left to right ;) It would have helped a lot to feel like a platform game monster.

Except that, the game is pretty fun to play. You have a good concept. I like the graphics and the audio. Well done.

A start, an end, an efficient tutorial. Well done, that's what I'm looking for when I play !

Great that you got a complete game in the time available, good job! I wish I'd had some kind of monster power that set me apart from the players though.
