Tower defense game where you have to dig dirt to build towers. Press B to build towers (or click the button), left click to move your ant around and build towers to stop the enemy ants from attacking your queen!

screenshot

You get more resources to build towers with by digging dirt blocks, but be careful not to expose a new path for enemy ants to use!

Controls

  • Zoom in/out using the mouse wheel or the +/- keys
  • Move the camera with edge panning, middle mouse click to drag, or WASD/arrow keys
  • Click the build icon (or press B) to build a tower, and left click again to place the tower (you can't place towers too closely to other towers or to ants)
  • Right click cancels building a tower
  • Left click moves your ant around, and left clicking on a dirt block will cause your ant to walk up and dig the dirt block, giving you the resources found in the dirt block

Cool game! It felt a little too zoomed out for me to easily understand what was happening. I like the concept of manipulating the terrain in combo with building things.

I was very confused as to what to do. A tutorial would've been nice or a better explanation of how to play.

A tutorial and easier first wave would be good, but other than that pretty solid. An interesting idea

Things I liked:
- I love the concept of sacrificing earth to get resources to build, there's a lot to do with this concept
- web game

Improvements:
- sound
- music
- bigger fonts for readability

Bugs:
- mouse clicks are mishandled somehow and towers were just being dropped in random locations along my mouse's path rather than in the spot I wanted them

I like the concept, managing a worker while you build a defense. I was a bit confused at first too. But I think the concept is solid, could be a fun TD with a bit more options. (First thing I thought about was how do I build blocks of dirt ? I thought I had to move them around to build corridors).

A tutorial might be good to easely understand the mecanics of the game, overall it was nice to play. The revisitation of the Tower defense concept is also nice

Nice concept! I really enjoyed to play. It took me some time to understand how to build a tower. Maybe add a red tower to explain when you can't build because you are too close to ants? Good job however!

Maybe a tutorial and a better UI would help a lot. Nice concept tough!

nice concept, tower placing was a little buggy for me and sometimes i couldnt place, and sometimes it placed at places i didnt want to, fun and cute though, reminded me of WC3 custom days

Nice game, was fun to play good old tower defence. But tower placement is kinda buggy and also it lacks of progressing (new towers or something)

Really cool concept and take on the theme! It took some time to figure out the controls but overall I really enjoyed it - also it's pretty impressive that you were able to implement (custom?) pathing in a LD game.

One thing I would suggest is that adding some sort of glow around the queen/player could help identify it in a crowd (especially for colorblind players such as myself). A mechanic where the queen moves might help with base design too!

Fun gameplay idea of dynamic tower defense where you choose what blocks to open up to get resources to build more towers. Unfortunately I was finding a lot of lagginess (playing in firefox) that made it almost unplayable at later stages (i got to wave 4). It also took me quite a while to understand what was going on that could have been made clearer. Like the towers cost 300 dirt, I control a tiny, hard to see little red ant that goes place to place to pick up dirt and put down stuff, would suggest skipping that character and just do his actions automatically. Could have done with a visible timer that shows that a tower is being built, other than just waiting to see one appear next to the cursor , also probably because you can't place them close together and this is shown by hiding the tower it seemed to me for a long time that building towers was not working, until I fully understood the rules. At later stages the ants all seems to get stuck and pile up, I'm assuming the pathfinding was struggling at this point. Anyway once you get over the initial learning curve the gameplay is really fun and its a solid idea, but really needs some polishing up. Also I wonder if a downloadable build would have less lagginess than a web one. Still good work. EDIT - Played again on chrome - definitely lags alot less, but by wave 6 was still struggling. At some point I had enough towers set that I could leave it to play on its own without further intervention, checked back later and i won :) ![save_the_queen_victory.png](///raw/d10/1/z/42707.png)
