Awesome execution, but I feel too old for those insane speedy action games ... with picoblast processing !
Plus points for Pico8 too ;)
* Always try to go down
* Dash against other moles if there is one next to it
* If it can't go down, dash to a random direction (left or right)
That's it. I wanted to add a better one by analysing the map, but it started to cost me too much time, so i just went with the basic one
✔️ The controls also allow for some mastery timing dashes correctly to weave around objects.
➖ The game was a bit easy, I got first place on my first attempt.
I agree with @rngames that it would be nice if it was a little more challenging. If you add a procedural mode and higher difficulty settings, I could play this for hours.
I hope we get to see more soon!
Amazing work with this game. I absolutely loved every bit of it. :)
The music was great. The physics were cool and the concept of a racing game with this topic.
I'd say this is even a gem. :)
(Would definitely play a post-jam version or even this one afterwards)
So thumbs up for that one.
The only thing that I'd criticized are the controls.
While I find the way they work generally good I don't like the button layout.
I think that you worked on this with a keyboard with the qwerty layout...
And I imagine this would be neat with the dashes since the "z" and "x" keys are directly next to another.
But in other layouts those keys are not really next to another. I use the German qwertz-layout for example and in there the "z" and "y" keys are switched. So the left dash is more right on the keyboard than the right dash key.
So I'd appreciate a button remapping option or alternative button layouts for that problem. But that's the only thing that I'd criticize.
Absolutely fantastic work with that one. :)
There are actually alternate keys for dashes, you can either use Z and X or C and V, maybe it will suit you more.
I can't change the inputs since the game is made with Pico-8, which comes with limited and predefined ones.
So keep in mind that you can use C and V for every other Pico-8 games you will find too
Interesting insight. Never really played a lot of PICO-8 games. So that's a new one.
And ahhh... Overread that alternative control scheme with "c" and "v". For me that would be a lot better since those keys are directly next to another in my layout. Don't know for other ones though.
But yeah... That's nothing you got a lot of control so I understand it.
Thanks again for the tip. Will keep that one in mind.
