Folsica by Hiku

"You'll always be welcome on Folsica."

Fleeing Earth, the last human survivors reached Folsica, an allied planet known for being inhabited by aliens of great culture. They found nothing but ruins, and hostile robots. The Folsicans were already extinct. But they left a message.

"To whoever reads this. They drag their power from the core of the planet. Reaching it is the only way to stop them."

During two years, humanity secretly built a drill while hiding from the robots. But when they finally set off the drilling, they were found out. Digging down to the core of Folsica should take 50 days. Will humanity manage to survive the robot attack until then?

The game is a Tower Defense. The coding part being slower than expected, we couldn't finish the game in time. We had to ditch a lot of gameplay features we wanted to implement, even basic ones like showing information about the tower you're about to spend resources on.

Here are the descriptions we meant to add to the upper parts of towers:

Upper human part 1: Aims for the closest enemy to the drill within range. Slow speed.

Upper human part 2: Aims for the strongest enemy within range. Very slow speed, but more damage.

Upper alien part 1: Aims in a predefined direction. Average speed.

Upper alien part 2: Aims within a predefined angle. High speed.

Upper robotic part 1: Aims in the 8 directions. High speed.

Upper robotic part 2: Aims in random directions. Very high speed.

Central parts:

Central human part 1: Cannonball. Hits one enemy. Low damage, average range.

Central human part 2: Bomb. Hits multiple enemies at once. Low damage, low range.

Central alien part 1: Laserbeam. 4 are sent at once. Hits one enemy. Low damage, very high range.

Central alien part 2: Homing missile. High damage, very high range.

Central robotic part 1: Circular saw. Hits multiple enemies at once, and deals damage 4 times. Very low damage, low range.

Central robotic part 2: Confusion. A hit enemy will walk the wrong way for a few seconds. High range.

Lower parts:

Lower human part 1: More damage.

Lower human part 2: Even more damage.

Lower alien part 1: Higher speed.

Lower alien part 2: Even higher speed.

Lower robotic part 1: Higher range.

Lower robotic part 2: Even higher range.

So, what went wrong? We were 4 working on the game, but only one was supposed to do the coding and implementing in Unity part (DrawRunner). That's my mistake (Hiku), I wanted to stick to game design and music composition, but it seems like there was too much work for only one dev. Overall, the team was great, and we had a lot of fun. We're happy with what we did, even if we're frustrated we couldn't finish. We're motivated to try again next time!
