Dragon Space by timeloopedpowergamer
You are a dragon. Your spaceship has suffered a failure just after launch and you're heading away from the solar system and into deep space. Why not go deeper?
- A clicker game with deep real-world astronomical data.
- You start off moving at about the escape velocity of Earth.
- Click the warning button to increase your velocity (km/s) as you rocket into deep space.
- Yep, keep clicking. That's what a clicker is.
- Watch as the lights of planets and stars begin to move faster in the background.
- Use your star chart to track how far you get based on real distances from the Sun to various space objects.
- (NOT IN ALPHA VERSION) Use spare parts once you get far enough out to increase your velocity even further.
- Go as far as Saturn is from the Sun to get an autoclicker.
- Should take less than a minute or so to start going faster than the speed of light.
This is a Jam entry though I worked alone on this project. I added some simple sounds and procedurally generated music.
- Music generated using (http://infinibeats.com/), a website allowing quick procedural music creation. Settings are all my own.
- Sound effects made in sfxr (http://www.drpetter.se/project_sfxr.html)
- Custom fonts (where used) are free Google fonts, included in the source code (https://fonts.google.com/)
- Art for game studio splash screen is from one of my older games.
- Programmed in Godot game engine 3.3

Known issues: * Star chart scroll doesn't keep place correctly--scroll to bottom and hit another milestone to reset. * Parts not implemented. Instead, get parts and autoclicker from a few milestones. * Dialog boxes are modal--this works as intended. * Breaking the speed of light--this works as intended.
Next version: * Notation when you pass the speed of light (about 300000 km/s) * That dang parts system. Purchase parts to go faster. Earn parts with distance from Earth. * New music as you go faster?

While playing and getting really fast, it had me overwhelmed by the thought of just how big the universe is. Going so fast and passing tons of objects that are just an unimaginable amount of distance away at such a high speed. I would be excited to try again when the parts system is out to reach greater speeds.

The audio is cool, is that procedural music generating during the game or did you generated one fixed version ?
Also I think the sequel should use relativistic physics :stuck_out_tongue: so that you can never actually hit the speed of light, but because of time dilation we could still visit some distant places in our lifetime. I think that's how it works, I'm not a physicist.
I am not a fan of clickers, but this one have a lot of great ideas!
I like how the narration is done, and I am absolutely in love with the music and the mood it sets.
Great job 💕
