DnD - Descending and Descending by Juan Matias

[raw]
made by Juan Matias for Ludum Dare 48 (JAM)

What a difficult theme!

I wanted to participate in the Jam so I made a very simple game, I could have made it better. Apologies to the real game developers.

I build it with Godot 3.2 (Linux), first time I use it. Was so easy to learn and start doing something I enjoyed a lot.

In the game, you use the mouse to move a square that is somehow falling, although you can move up. You get more points if you stay deeper in the screen. While playing, the trail of your movements will be drawn in the background, you can share a screenshot when the game is over.

You can play it here:

Well played it but felt like the game was very hard. My wish for the game would be that the box around my mouse would not be there or that the mouse did not show in the box it was hard to see where i needed to be.

Pretty good game. The concept is very simple but drawing the path in the background is a really good idea! Well done!

Nice game! Very difficult at first but after a few tries I got used to it. Kind of reminds me of the impossible game with a hint of flappy bird. Also the ever decreasing sound of the music was a nice subtle theme appropriate touch!

I liked the music and the drawing, somehow it was not scaled well in any of my browsers which made playing a bit difficult!

Amazing game! I love how you can see all this way you've done at the end by trail of your mouse.

Thanks for your comments! I though of adding collectables letters like A,W,S,D that you have to press while hovering. Lot to improve.

Wow, 542 is a nice score!

Wow! What a fun game! It seems like it should be so simple, just don't hit anything. But that simplicity made me want to keep coming back and playing again. What an innovative concept with the mouse trail! More games should require the gamer to "show their work". Thanks for making this game! Again I say

For me the game window was not filling the whole area and the sound was weirdly laggy, but otherwise a pretty nice game. Can't say it's an amazing concept, but I had fun playing it nevertheless and isn't that the whole point? :D

A bit too simple, but hey, I had fun. Good job.

@awesomezebra @mobiledev @ancient-pixel thanks for playing and comment. I know its a very simple game. To be honest, none of the games I played so far are anything special (didn't played the most rated yet). Some of them seems to have more work than others, but still, nothing new. Some of them too pretentious for a game jam and incomplete. Will try harder next time, I hope you too!

This is the kind of rage game that makes me hate everything, but i still get hooked on it. Because i have to beat that highscore!!!

Give this a visual overhaul and publish it on mobil. It could be the next flappy bird :D

Good work! It's a solid submission for the game jam. I think a longer audio loop would of been nicer but equally i liked the way it sounded like the sound was always descending even though i think it was an auditoriy illusion (?)

@rob-parker yes, its a descending Shepard Tone, at least that what I tried. I couldn't find a free audio sample for the game, but did found a MIDI file.

Fun and easy. Decent tool to practice aim, guess I'll return for more. Nice job!

Liked the idea of the path drawing in the background, seems like it could get quite messy if you get deep... but luckily I'm not that good. Restarting the audio/its loop felt quite rough, but could also be related to how quickly I was dying

Great game! I managed to get to 547. It actually gets easier the deeper you go because there is a bigger gap between the floors. In the beginning its very dense and doesnt allow you to move sideways fast enough if the gaps are on opposite sides. Other than that it seems fine :)

This is my favourite game so far. That music really sucks me. Such a simple but compelling gameplay premise.

@leapyearboy related to the audio issue, I should check if Godot build for Web have some build options/switches to improve that. I didn´t check even if the build was a release or debug. I did know the Web build will have some performance differences compared to desktop (not that is a resource eater game XD), but I wanted, if possible, that everyone were able play it online without the need of downloading it. Thanks for your feedback!
