made by bflatinteractive for Ludum Dare 48 (JAM)

Pacific Ocean, 650 miles South West of the Pitcarn Islands

A massive earthquake struck the area, and caused an enormous rupture in the ocean floor. A new trench was formed, which is now believed to be the deepest and darkest on Earth.

You decide to assemble a custom submersible, and descend to the bottom of the trench. You will be the first to discover the mysteries that lie beneath.

It was relaxing and really makes you feel like a submarine. Very nice game! The atmosphere and mood was great because of the music.

Rogue-like(?) visual novel game :P, can't imagine how many fish models and artworks were created for this game!
Impressive music and audio work.
Atomosphere is also so good.
But I didn't see much differences between choices though... Barely have the feeling of strategy.
Still, good work!

I am now terrified of Death Eels, thank you :)
I made it down to 50,000 depth and there doesn't seem to be any more life here. I'm not sure if that's reassuring or even scarier 0__0

Great visual novel(?) Love the fish models and atmosphere. It seems that the oxygen level is always at > 150% and the choice against hostile fish doesn't really matter. Also, it seems to be bugged after 45000ft or so.

Good ambient and very nice idea, in Hadopelagic zone there is only darknes.

The ambient noises and music made it quite eerie. I really liked the concept and atmosphere, but wish there were more meaningful choices so it could be the Oregon Trail of the sea.

Great atmosphere, this would benefit greatly of a more robust set of gameplay rules though. Awesome entry!

The art and the music in this are great! Wish the interactions with the creatures would affect the ship or have some bad/good result. Overall, it manages to get you in a mood for ocean exploration!

The music and ambiance is very nice! It's a bit like FTL? Is it intended that the oxigen can get past 100%? Also it's onfusing that you can discover oxigen in discrete units (like energy) but the HUD sows it as percent?

Also: It seems like we had quite the same idea, haha! If you like, check out our interpretation on diving into a trench and discovering fish. What a crazy world. :D

At first it was nice but around 45000-50000ft nothing was happening. The screen was all black, I was only loosing oxygen and "You are met with a hostile enemy" never changed. I made it to 70600ft when I ran out of oxygen and it still kept going and continued to count oxygen in minus rate.

Our games are similar in concept, and I feel like we even went the same route of trying to make them more about a relaxing exploration experience.

I really liked the retro 3D style, the sound design and atmosphere you achieved.

at 45000+ feet deep it suddenly was stuck on enocountering a rainbow carp but other than that i thought the idea was pretty interesting and it was fun to play (:

Love the "PS1" fish and submarine with pixel/shaded graphics. Wish the pacing was a little more active. And adding in better continuity on the UI/Graphics would make this a cool collection game.

I loved the 3d models and their textures, the music was good too, but it didn't loop very well and it kinda took you out of the immersion every time it looped.

Good job!

excellent music and sound, really created a great atmosphere. The water distortion effect also really enhanced the presentation.

I really like the idea of underwater text adventure. But for me it kinda felt "empty". I didn't feel like I am playing a game.

It could be easily fixed if you had all the actions (torpedo/laser/evade/go down) available for each encounter. That way you would have to remember, which creatures you have to attack and which you can just go around. That would make the bestiary real useful. Now you automatically know what you have to do on each screen. I think this one change alone would take the game to whole new level.

Also, after reaching Hadopelagic zone, my submarine disappeared. I don't think that was intended, as the fish are perfectly visible, so it's not just dark :-)

neat little moody game. It was pretty easy and simply but maybe that was your intention. Also small point but make the music more loopable, whenever it ends I got scared cause I thought something was happening. Great work!

Cool game! It would be nice if there was a little more depth or choice in the combat such that the optimal gameplay wasn't to use your 3 torpedos and then spam laser things/spam go deeper for like 10mins. It also would have been cool to have some end point—maybe there was after running out of oxygen or something, but that would have taken more clicks that I was willing to click. The graphics and general ambiance were nice though, good job!

I like the retro graphics! Even though the very simple gameplay it is interesting to go deeper to explore :)

Nice low-poly + low-res texture, old school graphics :metal: . Reminds me of Playstation 1 very first games. There is an instinctive wish in this game to have some inventory or being able to open submarine's "deck" screen (making some repairs, engine tweaks and so on).

Good concept for a strategy/resource-managing game! Sadly Unity is responsible for a lot of bugginess and slowness here on the technical side, but the mood is absolutely conveyed through the music and assets. I was able to fill the bestiary on my first run, which was nice! If you have a wider variety of fish this might be a neat, relaxing, "exploration" (?) game. I rated it a 3.5/5 - an engaging third entry into the B♭ Interactive jam series!

Good audios. There is nothing under 42000ft, it's a bug or a part of game?
Energy and Oxygen can be positive.
Seems the game lost a ending

Similar to @junamai and others, at 45,000+ (or thereabouts) all I saw was darkness and a Green Guppy message. I wasn't sure if there is an ultimate depth level or not. One way to improve this game is to let the player know what the maximum depth is, and have an indicator that shows how much progress has been made. That way, a clearly-set goal will motivate the player to finish. Aside from this, I had fun playing this game. The background music is great. Nice work.
