Goop's Adventure [unfinished] by n-c0de-r

[raw]
made by n-c0de-r for Ludum Dare 48 (UNFINISH)

This was our first enrty at the LDjam. We did this just for fun, no big plans were laid out. As total beginners, and with almost no special preparation before at all, we did not finish much, but learned a lot.

The game was supposed to be a simple platfromer with some terrain-related movement mechanics. While searching for assets we found this little slime sprite and it gave us some ideas. It's totally unfinished, has only two demo levels (switch with SHIFT KEY), and no sound so far.

We wanted to make it in JavaScript only. But then found the Phaser 3 library. So we spent a lot time learning to handle that (maybe it was a mistake, but a lession none the less). During that process we also included Tiled for Map creation. Which was also totally new to us, but we followed through. Sadly, we could not figure out how to make a level transition properly or Tiled object interaction properly.

We will come back again, and might even continue to work on this very same project in the meantime. Thank you for the event, to everyone competing: good luck and have fun!

Ahh dang! Better luck next time then! A good tip is to just get a feel for the tech stack you want to work with a week in advanced so you don't stumble upon any tricky situations when the jam starts, it sucks being stuck with tech problems when all you want to do is make a game (and with the deadline and all it goes out of control pretty fast). Better luck at 49 mate! Cheerz!
