interesting. it did draw me in, the C64 aesthetic was neat. I laughed when the computer corrected its typos. I didn't get past pong, the pace of the game -- pong as well as the conversation with the computer -- were a bit too slow for me.

also one small per-character-typed sound effect would go a long way. still, good job!

@gregfagan Hi, thanks! The game seems to have an issue with performance on certain devices. We are going to try and fix it, and post a small fix. Not sure if that is what you meant, but thanks for playing anyways! :)

It's a nice text based game. I wish there were more sound effects, especially for the games, as the only sound is a small amount of ambient sound. The story is interesting, but I feel not enough has been said. Nice job!

I love this! The game has a lot of personality (I especially like when the computer makes typos lol). The visuals are perfect and the minigames add a lot to the game (Though the AI was too good at pong, making that one last a while). My only complaint was that the game was too short because I really liked the humor and silliness of it all and wanted it to last longer!

So, normally games like this just come across as edgy to me, but this one actually worked, good job. I'm not sure I totally get it, but I feel that it's supposed to be mostly up to my imagination, which is good.

It was a plugin taking over default keys. Works fine :D

Very interesting and evocative game! It was interesting to do some self-reflection after each 'test'. I'm curious to learn more about what was being discussed at the end

Hey, I just made it until the pong game. Have to say that the game ran really slow somehow, like the text scroll and everyt movement felt very sloggy. Don't think it was my PC.
I think if you can, you should increase the tick speed by something drastic like 1.5x. Players during LD rating have a kind of short attention span I think ;) Will refrain from rating the game for now and give it another go if you upload a build with faster tick speed (afaik it's alright to make small adjustments).

Very cool aesthetic. I would love to know what your inspirations were for this game, because I haven't seen something like this before (Story and gameplay-wise).

I dont understand too much the point of the game, slow text and the pong section crash my pc in some point :sob: :sob: :sob: but is a interesanting idea anyway

[Copied over from itch review] I'm more than biased when it comes to commodore 64 graphics and themes but that said this game is the most imaginative, engaging (what is effectively a) test of character I've played in a while -Tamiks

This was one of the most clever games I have played. Although the sound did not seem to work, the art style was quite nice. [Spoilers if you haven't played yet] From what I can tell the game is about a robotic re-education program for convicts, you had a very clever way of creating that idea of wishing you "didn't do it" and the games designed to bring out competitive emotion to clue the player in. [End Spoiler] This is a great game and reminds me of that movie "War Games" where the computer plays global thermonuclear war. Some issues I had were that the pong game was a bit slow and there was no sound except for one part where white noise played and I could not see how the theme Deeper and Deeper applies.

Due to the thought put into this game, I have to applaud your good work and I hope you place high in the rankings.

The Commodore 64 aesthetic was done very well. And the game even game me a bit of a spook. What fun!

I liked it! I've seen this sort of story before of course, where you begin to feel that something deeper is going on, but the way it was revealed was interesting, and it actually made me feel guilty for something that I didn't do. Super interesting. I really like the idea of creating the framework for a story and letting the user fill in the details themselves, it blurs the line between creator and audience.

--Spoiler warning--

Ah, this awakes the nostalgia of good old days when C64 was messing with my brain and guilt tripping me while pretending to perform some sort of cognitive ability test.. Hold on...

Seriously though, very nice entry. Deep as well, who can feel completely honest while they are made to type "I am innocent"

This game set out on a mood and I think it filled that mood quite well. The aesthetic of typing into a terminal helped with that, and although the game left a lot of the story up for interpretation, it was not a bad experience in my opinion. I do kind of wish it offered a bit more, but I did like the little details like the computer making typos, made it feel like someone was on the other end typing that as they went.

Thanks for this game! Hilarious! Great graphics and gamplay and a nice story to pack it all together. Plus nostalgia for the C64 times, what more do you want.

Properly unnerving! The typos, and how the other side decided to undo some messages, were interesting touches. Maybe the game could have been even stronger by replacing Pong/Snake by games that felt more at home in a mental test, but I was intrigued the whole way through!

I have to be honest, when I played the game I didn't really get what was going on. It was only after coming here and seeing the comments that other users experienced way different things than I did (something about having to type "I didn't do it"??) encouraged me to replay it with different answers to see what else would come up. I liked the nostalgic C64 aesthetic, and little touches like the computer(?) making typos and fixing them creeped me out a bit. Very interesting ideas.

Very intriguing indeed! Even though I didn't hear any sounds, the mood was very good. I really wish a bit more of the backstory has been revealed, as right now it feels way too open-ended. But overall, it was really great and liked the idea a lot. Well done!

Wow, spooky. Nice one. I was thinking/hoping it would eventually degrade into an "Imscared" type glitchy creepypasta type game, it did start to get there at the end.
