made by megalukes for Ludum Dare 48 (JAM)

"There was once a beautiful Forest that fell to a strange curse. Now it's crowded with strange creatures, shadows of what once were the animals that inhabited it. Sometimes a lost soul gets caught into its grasp, lost forever in a deadly trap. The only way out is to venture deeper into the forest and discover the secret behind its curse before you become a victim of it."

Controls:

  • Arrow keys for movement
  • Z to light the flashlight

Beautiful art! The concept is cool, reminds me of Alan Wake with the flashlight being the weapon. It wasn't immediately apparent to me that "Z" was the action button.

Clear example of quality over quantity for the art. Well done <3 I played through a couple of times and my best time was 0:55 :P I don't know if that's good or not but I tried my best!

Very nice looking and the controls felt good! It was satisfying to spook the monsters with the flashlight, and the boss at the end was a nice touch. Good work!

Overall looks and plays great. It feels like it could have been a commercial release almost. I really like the animation, lighting effects, and overall gameplay.

Nice short game, GJ. A little bit more enemies and rooms could transform it into great entry, but still enjoyed it a lot

I liked this game! The visuals were stunning, the controls felt pretty smooth, and the progression felt just right. A few times on the final boss it felt a little impossible to dodge his attacks. Only gripe I would have! Good job!

Really beautiful art, great concept and i liked very much the sounds. Really well polished and quite a charming game. It's kind of challenging though, as i don't find any source for replainish health. Despite that, found it a amazing game. Great work.

Awesome game guys, the art really is incredible, music too! I wish that when using the light you were locked into whatever direction you were facing, and could then strafe (move around whilst staying aimed in the direction you were facing). The boss also needed some indicators to say 'watch out, I'm about to attack here' because the attacks felt random and had no warning. I beat it tho, and had a lot of fun, nice game!

the character, backgrounds and enemies are very well done, I love them. Overall a very good job for a jam

Flashing the small enemies was really too easy since they only needed 1 flash, you could just walk through the area with your light on and the job was done since they were all on one spot. Maybe seperate them and dont replenish the flashlight while you are in one area, or add a cooldown or something since you can just tab it fast and you have it basicall constantly on. This will result in the Player to be more careful with using it and you can make more use of the world structure, because in the end, the structure was just used to sperate the world into smaller levels. This is fine but then you should not indicate the player that there are other exits if the game is still linear in the end. So yeah maybe the structure was a bit too much for a jam game to make use of and could have been left out to focus on other things.

The timer felt also kind of strange since it was to no use for the gameplay or story. I could see that you would want to get out of the forest fast but then the timer should tick down instead of up.

Game looks really nice tho and has potential if you add more to the world, overall you did a good job :)

Lovely art, and good sound ambience! The game feels mostly complete. Maybe some tweaks here and there, as mentioned(a bit the controls, monsters).

The character reminded me of another character with a similar stance/coat, something with nightmares :)

Well done!

Nice visuals and polished game mechanics. Should we want more?

Also, nice mood!

this is absolutely gorgeous!! the musical loop is a bit short and gets annoying fast, but the game was very enjoyable
