Late for the Show by Gamepopper
This is a game I made in a little over 24 hours, for the theme I had the idea of performing as a monster, and trying to get your costume ready before you head off to perform.
The aim of the game is to find five parts of your costume, which are scattered randomly around your bedroom. You find these parts by walking into the bedroom features and pressing to check under, inside or on the feature. Once you think you are ready, you go down the bottom of the screen through the door to head to the show.
Controls:
WASD or Arrow Keys - Move around scene
Z/J - Check underneath places in your room
X/K - Check inside places in your room
C/L - Check on top of places in your room
I have also updated the build to include fixes that should make the game a bit more approachable, since I'm posting this before the #LDJAM deadline it should be fine.
- You should now be able to check stuff while adjacent to objects. Previously you were only able to check stuff while walking into it.
- No input delay after checking objects. Text will still show for a period of time to provide info.
- Able to skip cutscenes and instructions.
- XInput Gamepad Support. Use Left Analog Stick or D-Pad to Move and A/B/Y to Check Under/In/On objects.

On the other hand, the frantic pace, the music and the retro graphics kept me trying. Thanks for the experience!

O &%*$&%$&$&#&%&
It's a fun, fast little idea, though if you just jam the buttons when you reach the areas, it's pretty easy. The music is cool, though, and the graphics remind me of an old Game Boy game (in a good way!).
It does look good though, and did keep me trying. (I never did get it, though)
Thou I find the game at pace too fast.
Concept-wise, panic-based games that get you pumped are great. I hope you keep up with these ideas and refine them into fun and more fleshed-out games in the future.
I like the idea tho
Could have benefited from a more intuitive control setup, though.
It feels a bit like a complex Warioware mini-game, but one I don't mind playing over and over again. The only downside is that you can pretty much button-mash your way to victory.
It's definitely one of the most funny AND fun things I've played so far! Good Job!
Nice graphic, smooth gameplay and funny theme interpretation , well done!
Good implementation of the theme, with a nice framing to why you're doing what you're doing. Graphics and audio work really well together and I was compelled to keep trying to get everything even though I didn't ever manage to!
Great simple and effective pixel art, the music really makes you rush through finding everything so fits perfect.
At first was being too impatient hitting the different keys while I should have waited a moment, thought I could button bash my way through.
When I see these smaller more simple ideas it really makes me wish I could think of something like this, always try to do too much. My next goal is to make something more like this for a jam.
Great job! :D
