Deeper deep ocean by Aret24
In this short game, you will control a submarine, which has GUNS (4 to be exact). While you hold LMB you shoot a lot of bullets to deal with angry sea life.

You control your sub by arrow keys or AWSD. This game might be short, but fun non the less :) hope you enjoy!

Also, I always wanted a submarine with a revolver.
One thing: I did not hold the mouse button pressed to shoot at first and instead clicked for every shoot. The second approach felt buggy because you probably run a timer and fire only as soon as the button is long enough pressed. So this might be a minor detail to improve next time but after figuring out I have to keep the button pressed everything was fine
@pixelportalz That was the idea :D (about submarines with revolvers)
@thatmanrobin I'm actually planning in near future to make a full release of this game, with music/sounds/a lot of guns/ upgrades and lots of cool features, maybe will send to Steam. Will buff the guns :D (not too OP, but enough)
@oadt Will change in the future release of this game, what was I think, of course people will start to click :D
@tucan There is a lot to work on, will add some watery ocean like music.
@nick-rafalski must have made that clearer (about shooting), or just make clicking work too
Thanks guys/gals for the reviews! I do really appreciate them, because they really point me the mistakes, what I should change.
Otherwise nice job!
@klos71 I have an answer why it does feel unrewarding - no particles or screen shake, no cutscene after him,but most importantly, he should have drop a gun after himself to go to another level, but I had little time to implement stuff.
Thanks for reviews :D
@sugarsugarsugar thanks :D
keep going and congrat ! i like youre game!
@vuvuzela80 A lot of people say that this game would be cooler with sounds, but I had a little to to make the game. And if I add sound now that would be cheating
Maube some floating mechanics could add variety to the gameplay, but then again it would probably also hinder player mobility, and with the bullet avoidance mechanic the player mobility is important.
The boss battle is cool. Unfortunatelly there is only one attack pattern and after figuring it our (and dealing with additional enemies) the battle became trivial. Maybe spawning more adds at 60/30% of boss HP would've made the combat more engaging.
The game also appeart to have a problem with screen scaling.
On default build player resolution the health bar was partially clipping past the screen edge.
Turning fullscreen helped fix the healthbar, but the hint message was only half-visible. The right half of the message was offscreen, and so I didn't see what you need to press to change weapons and mostly just guessed it should be numbers 1-4.
1.I don't quite undestand? floating?
2.Boss should have gotten 2 patterns, the one we have and the red balls that will follow you until 5 seconds, then it will just at one direction that was the last one.
I planed a lot of cool bosses, levels, but you can do so little in a day (first day I was prototyping and brainstorming)
3.Being honest, I hate Unity UI, scaling is just awful, but I gonna fix it today.
Thanks again :D Have a good day
I expect additions to the game with different weapons)
By floating I mean something like the submarine slowly drifting upwards or downwards when you don't apply controls. Then moving in the same direction as this flow is a bit fater and in opposite tirection - a little slower.
And then maybe add a button to toggle the direction of this floating (like fill the internal tanks with water to start tinking, or empty the tanks to float up).
Regarding Unity UI - It actually is pretty easy to handle once you get used to setting up achors and pivots correctly. On the other hand it took me a couple years of practice and a background in front-end web development to figure them out. So I understand why you might be frustrated.
@hilvon that's a brilliant idea, to make some puzzles or just rooms with this mechanic, like make a vertical currents (like in minecraft when you place magma underwater) so when submarine in the line, it can move faster, or make a button that will send air from tubes that can activated with shooting at it.
Finally I have time for UI fix, doing it rn👌
With some music and sound effects this is amazing. Thanks for sharing it!
Just one thing, the scaling of the game is weird it made that I was not able to see the instructions on the top right corner, they where outside of my screen :/
Good job overall (nice compo entry :))
@lorwon Actually I have a build right now with this problem fixed, just have a few stuff to do and maybe soon enough will post the first ever update!
@lesinvisible Thanks!
@godsboss This was made on purpose for lag reduction, so if player close enough then crab shoots, but I maybe should make the range bigger. Thanks for the review :D
@imzary I'm right now trying to compose some good juicy music but I cant, tho I will never stop trying!!!Thx for your review!
@pixelportalz I'm planning to make this small game a full steam release! (maybe this summer will do all the development). Thx for review!
Some things as feedback for the game would be that the web build does kinda not correctly scale up, since some elements seem to be cropped. And I'd add at least some shooting sounds/effects to it. It would make it a bit cooler. ;)
But nice game. Nice work.
