Underbed Monster by GagaPete
Everyone knows the stories about monsters under the bed. But being one of them is hard work! Didn't you ever wonder how the monsters got there without anyone noticing?
Now you can learn it, the hard way!
You are one of the Monsters and you have only one goal per level. Get into the house and get under a bed, so you can prepare for the night. If you are brave, you can try to snack the families kitten.
But beware: If people see you, you have to try again.
The progress should be saved between sessions, so you can hopefully come back later and continue.
*Controls*
Arrow keys for movement
Space, X or C to hide under a bed (or to snack kittens)
*Bug*
The game contains a bug, that resets the game progress whenever you'll be seen. It should only reset the current level. But since the game is quite short, I'll keep it like it is. :)

Some more levels and stuff. Really a nice game.
Also, there is a bug (on the last level, if you hit space left of the second bed, it will create another bed sprite where the monster is hiding under).
The environment is pretty good as well though it lacks the ability to hide under tables and in fridges and in toilets etc etc that really would've pushed this game forward. I think the AI needs a bit more chaotic nature to it though and not so much script.
I like the game, though simplistic, and it fits to the theme perfectly.

(although I can't really understand how it ends, I was kinda getting "Thank you for playing!" randomly each run)
@Suese @LastLeaf
Music was a thing I tried to include, but everything I created was more annoying than helping the mood so I got rid of it.
@thatwhichis
But my graphics are bad compared to yours. ^^
@dos @Infininete
The game normally should just restart the current level but it seems like I somehow introduced a bug in the final hour that slipped through so it resets the game at any failure. The game should end if you get under bed in the fourth level.
@ChaosCult
Yepp, that is a thing I still think would be great. This and @Infininete's suggestion about more enviroment interaction would make the game more "tactical".
I promised a post-compo version the previous times and never delivered so I won't this time but I really want to expand the game with a few more game mechanics and a lot more content / levels.
PS: Man, I really need to write a post on this game before LD34 starts. Still have the draft for LD32s in my post-list. :)
The pixel art is cool. I got some flickering at the tile borders, I think you should round your camera position before rendering the tiles.
The game would have been perfect with sound and simple music. But even without, really great :-)
Nice entry.
Auto-generation of levels would be fun. :)
Good job!
The game actually has 4 levels, looks like it only let's you play two of them in case of failure. I'll later take a look and try to fix this "win condition"-bug!
Good game!
