FishyFish by PSiv
You are a fish.
Your small fishy bones are weak, and you are prone to being crushed by the pressure of the ocean if you swim too deep.
Eat smaller fish to grow larger, and make your bones stronger so you can venture deeper. Don't get eaten by the larger fish. Perhaps you can reach the ocean floor and claim the Fishy King's crown?
(You have won the game when you get the crown, feel free to stop playing then or continue to see how big you can get, or until the ocean gets too small to see, oops.)
Move your fish with the mouse. Simple.

It's a relaxing game, I finished it twice. It could use a full-screen button, my mouse kept losing the focus of the game.
Amazing atmosphere, almost psychedelic thanks to the music and the waves.
I didn't understand the camera was zooming out at first, adding decorative plants, a scale or some other size reference would make it clearer!
@jeanbon I've reuploaded it with different WebGL settings so it should have the fullscreen button now, thanks for the heads up!
@paul-maxime I definitely wish I had spent more time trying to balance the scale of eveything and portraying the growth of the fish better. The only thing that gets smaller as the camera zooms out are the waves I think, and they're only at the surface, so yes, definitely some plants/rocks or something would be a great idea to help that.
I got to the point where I had a crown and was swimming in a 1px ocean, did that for about 60 seconds, but nothing else happened - would have been nice to have a prompt at the end (unless I missed it / stopped playing too soon!)
+1 to eat all fishes until the ocean is a pixel :ok_hand:
Well done, this was a solid entry!
I'm the biggest fish of the sea!!! Nice game, the kind of game that don't have an original gameplay but I still enjoyed it. I like the mood, good effort on music. But I miss this feeling of power, like in Katamari Damacy, it's necessary to show you that you're getting bigger and bigger with environment, camera, etc. But it's a great game for a jam!
Otherwise awesome idea and fun game!
@kenneth-wheadon The fish spawn just off camera and their size is determined by your depth, so if you go deeper you force larger fish to spawn, but then when you go back up they get despawned and smaller ones spawn because you're less deep. It is intended but it may need tweaking the size of the spawn/despawn area to get more consistent fish sizes. Like many things with this game that I thought would be simple, it seemed to be tricky to get the balance of everything right.
@duck-reaction It definitely needs a better sense of scale I agree, I will check out Katamari Damacy for some inspiratioin!
@bamallama Sorry about that, I did plan on adding keyboard controls but had to prioritise other things and didn't get round to it.
First of all, it is not something that has not been seen before. But at the same time it is a very simple and well implemented idea.
Second, the music. It's relaxing. and accompanies the game without disturbing.
Third, the idea of becoming king of the sea and getting a crown for doing it was a very fantastic idea.
Regarding art, I found the fish beautiful; although it would have added more variety of species.
Generally speaking, I really liked the little game. Nice job!
@quetzakol That is a very interesting point about the feeling of going deeper that I hadn't considered. To win the game you can just stay near the surface and grow and grow until you are big enough that the ocean floor comes to you in a way, there is nothing forcing you to actually dive deeper, and the bigger you get the less deep it feels. Certainly something for me to think about, thank you!
@guiditooo I did originally plan on having different species of fish, in particular a unique one for the player fish, but in the end it was faster and easier to just have randomised colours. Definitely something I would do with more time.
