Gameplay time: 5~8 minutes
GET TO THE EXIT WITH AS MUCH GOLD AS YOU CAN!
The Game
Necro Digger is a game about raising minions and making them work for you! You start as a mana-starved weak necromancer and quickly rise in power with a army of angry zombies!
CONTROLS
A / D - Walk Left Click - Shoot Right Click - Raise Undead Space - Jump
Use your minions to dig for you!

Loot that gold!

Dig those tiles!

CHANGELOG 26 Apr - Link updated to itch.io, better than OneDrive. Same build. 27 Apr - Had to downgrade from Unity's URP to Standard RP to publish it to the Web, URP was throwing exceptions no matter what. Lost the cel-shaded shader and camera stack (UI is glued to the camera now). Fixed a typo. But everything else is the same.

It feels great to have these minions dig for you, but it's also fun to shoot at the same time. Congratulations for making the game feel so good to play.
The only thing that would have made me enjoy the game even more is if the minions could move faster... but then again, I feel like their slow speed ensured the game was properly balanced.
Very nicely done. If you keep working on this game, I would be interested in following its development.
Good game.
@blockerz Awesome! I'm sorry about the quitting, I just didn't remember I had to do this  Jump is just an alternate means of movement, since you spend a lot of time walking I thought this is the kind of gamew design polish thing I could do! Also if you continuously jump when the ground is on fire you can avoid some damage!
@digitalcrest Thanks! That is what I was aiming for! I'm a game designer so I spent most of my time there and couldn't do anything else before I felt it was solid and fun
@tebon Thank you for playing and for the feedback! My goal was to keep the players actions simple but with time they made the game's dynamic shift from something like a resource management/clicker to a time management/idle as the game went on. However if I was to improve upon this I would surely address the players actions to be more engaging (and less "repetitive")!
@secret-magic-404 Congrats and thank you for your kind words! Game feeling is one of the things I value most and I'm very happy that it felt great for you! :v: You're absolutely correct, if I do continue developing this I'd start thinking on player actions and how they could affect minions, like movement buffs, direction and such.
@thijs-tak @pavelc YES! Man, I love to hear that you got that nice experience! At some point in dev the zombies would pick up coins for you, but I decided to change that so there could be this nice moment when you found out you chose the wrong side but all the loot would make it into a positive moment
@rob-parker Thank you! Since this was my first LD Compo I tried to work with simple mechanics that could be polished enough to be solid and fun! There is actually no way to force your minions in one direction or the other but to wait them to get to a wall. I liked the basic concept of not being able to directly control your minions but if I had more time I'd have implemented a skill to turn them around or something. If I continue developing it this is surely the path I'd take to further this design.
@crazykittens-892-yt Haha nice to hear this! I deliberately omitted any information about the lava floor so people could have this exact "teaching" moment. I'm very happy to know that this has paid off! And I do agree also about the graphics, they are really basic! I chose to spend more time testing and polishing the controls/design
Finished with 1027 coins, but I think I could have done better if I had some kind of timer to show how much time left I had until the lava comes.
Well done!
@david-mason Thank you :D
There were cases where it was right for me to help them progress, but other times where it was best to focus on a different direction and collect the coins once the minions progress enough.
I also feel that the mana reload time and use of bullets vs raising was really well balanced.
The coins were super satisfying and the game was intuitive and somewhat complete.
Great job!
