The download link is a 404 for me. Maybe there's a typo, or you haven't set it to public on itch.io?

I like the idea of the game and it's very well done. I think it's just missing one gameplay element in the game: a way to remove ennemies, or to dig on sides easier. I thinked of a bomb item that the player may collect and use to remove ennemies, or dig in a larger area.

Nice game, love it!

Cute, fun take on a classic game. I was able to make sense of the mechanics after playing for a while. The movement and sound effects have a nice "crunch" to them, too. I did encounter some minor visual(?) bugs, like this one ![2021-04-26_002116_517118812.png](///raw/c74/c3/z/3d3c8.png) or when the character sprite disappeared for a while at the start of... level 16, I think it was? (It came back eventually.) The gameplay has a really satisfying loop of wanting to go deeper to get more powerful, though I get the feeling that it's hardest at the beginning and if the player survives long enough they become near invincible. Nonetheless, it feels quite polished for a compo game.

I stopped at the start of level 19 with 110♥, 160/175 energy, and $125. Other players: I CHALLENGE YOU to beat that.

Nice compo !
I am a little bit confused with the controls (I think it's just the arrow keys). Maybe add a controls pale to show them. Or add them to your itch.io description.

I love the graphics, it's a very solid game for a 48h dev !

This is a lot of fun! The vine mechanic is especially clever, and it adds a cool element of strategy to the game. I do wish that your health reset after every level, though. I died a few times at the beginning of the levels because I couldn't reach a bottle in time. Other than that, great work!

Wow, out of all the LD48 games I've played thus far this is the first one to really impress me! There is depth in the design and gameplay, it's clear that you've put thought into this game. I especially like the vines, the satisfying sound they make fits nicely with the great benefit of moving upwards. If you take a close look at the layout where you are you can eventually map out the optimal route, and as you're rewarded by doing so with upgrades (and to a lesser extent points - personally I like rewards that affect the gameplay directly) you feel accomplished. The graphics are cute and easily readable, perfect fit for the grid-based gameplay, and the music is really good. I'm impressed - this is a solid entry!

What the heck that title screen music slaps! Very solid game, I like the puzzle aspect of it, and the pixel art is super charming. I'm a little bit bothered by the stage not being centered on screen, but that's probably just a me thing. Very cool entry, really

This was an enjoyable game, but it seems that you lose energy even when you don't do anything. For example, at first I was trying to move with WASD but all it did was remove all my energy and kill me. After testing, it seems hitting any key on the keyboard will remove an energy even if it doesn't do anything. I think this should be changed, and WASD should be added as alternative inputs if possible.

Very fun, and awesome music! One could spend a lot of time optimizing the way they play this game.

Nice game! I really liked the character sprite, and it was fun to get into a nice rhythm after getting a few upgrades. Eventually it felt like I would never lose, so I stopped playing :)

Really nice work!

Amazing work! I could see losing myself in search of treasures as Theodore for a long, long time. Sound, art and design work very well together to make a complete and polished experience that is definitely very impressive for a compo entry! The main character is super charming and charismatic, great job

Cool game. Art and music are good. Is there a restart button though? I couldn't find one (not that it's hard to relaunch after dying - also it's possible that you included it and I'm just blind).

Great work, had fun!

@mduo13 , I haven't gotten as far as you at level 12, but I've got 230 health, 220 energy, and $160!
And I think I've reached the point where it's difficult to lose, heh.

Anyway, it took me a few tries to figure out this game, and a while before I learned to play more contemplatively and to prioritize the full health and energy fills. It's really enjoyable; the mechanics are solid and you're constantly assessing risk/rewards on the map, and the music is such a perfect backing to it all. Nicely made!
