Hey, Wake Up! is a "catch the falling objects" game. You play as a bear man in a sweater, who was cursed by a witch to fall into an eternal slumber. You need to keep drinking energy drinks to avoid falling into a deeper and deeper sleep, all the while collecting enough jewels to break the witch's wicked curse!

HTML and Windows versions available! (Please try the Windows version if you can, there's some lag caused by audio files in the HTML release!)

It was fun :)

Awesome concept and cool graphics. It would be fun if there were objects that you had to avoid as well (sleeping pills or something). Nice job!

Good job! Doing that in 48 hours alone is impressive. I'd like to have seen some more progression - things falling faster, things you have to avoid.

Game definitely looks very nice! Played the HTML version and the lag wasn't too bad, still playable. Would have been nice if there was something to prevent the game from feeling a little monotonous. Just something to spice it up. Overall looks very polished!

@turkey Thanks! I tried to do that with the increased rate of sleep as you get further, but I don't think it's super noticable until you're closer to 100 jewels. I should have made that more clear. Thanks for playing!

Also played the HTML and didn't mind it. 100 gems seems like a lot. But perhaps I'm just not very good at it
More variety of items would have been awesome, but I know how that goes with only 48 hours. Great job, thanks for making it!

Really interesting take on the "deeper" concept. I would like to see more noticeable difficulty scaling at the earlier levels, but other than that it's a nice game.

This is about how I spent time while making the game for LD :zzz:

I think this is a good game. The graphics are nice and I like the design of your bear character. I really liked the gulp noise, thought it was funny. I thought the progression was good and I notice fairly quick that the speed meter drains faster the more gems you have. I did find the HTML version a bit laggy, but that isn't really an issue.

I like your take and how you adapted the LD theme. The game doesn't lag much, very playable!

Personally, I think you could try to make the movement of the bear with inertia. Then the game will be a bit harder and better (maybe).

Overall, the game is well-made!

Controls felt good. It would be cool if there were more design elements to add more strategic depth. Pills that make you slower, but you get more from each energy drink. Or something like that.

Was a bit laggy on the web version.
Lost twice because two cans were on opposite sides and couldn't run fast enough, didn't feel great to just have an unviable run.

Fun, simple game. It looks great! I agree with some other comments that maybe it needs a few more mechanics. Also, while I realize this is a HUGE change, it would be fun if there were some 3d elements - the alleyway stretching into the back is begging for something to be coming at you! Nice work.

Great game, quite fun, although like the others said could have added in a bit more elements e.g. more items, levels, etc.. It became quite clear the strategy is to prioritise the energy drinks over the gems, maybe something like running also makes you sleepier would make it more interesting, since then the game would become more like greed control (don't run to grab that gem or you will lose). Still, you had only 48 hours, great job!

Pretty simple but not bad at all. Interesting take on the theme but I kinda wish the gameplay was more related to the theme as well. My main issue is that at the start the game is a bit slow, and that by the end the energy drain is absolutely anxiety-inducing, the cans spawn in such a way that you grab them at the last moment.

Wow. I was stuck at 17 ratings for three days, put an ad on the main page half an hour ago, and come back to 4 new ratings. The power of advertising, it works, folks!

@zerocomms oof, sorry about that. I did some work to make it more viable (like forcing a can to spawn every 4 spawns), but I should have done more. Thanks for playing!

@PBG That's a good idea. I was mostly concerned with "just getting something done and out the door", but I probably could have added at least one more mechanic. Thanks for playing!

@escapade Those are some awesome mechanic ideas I wish I had over the weekend. Running is easy enough to implement, after all. Thanks for playing!

@Vicco I have a habit of building deceptively tough-as-nails games, haha. I personally love the rush of last-second clutch saves near the 100-gem mark, but to each their own, I suppose. (I could have probably made it a bit more interesting in the beginning, though.) Thanks for playing!

Nice little game! Would be fun to have some objects that you'd have to avoid. I too faced the situation when the only energy can was so far up that I didn't have a chance but to lose. I played the web version and it lags noticeable when you pick up an item. Anyways, fun game, good job!
