Deep Dive Fishing by Jarron

STORY: Deep Dive Fishing is a simple yet pretty fun game where you control a hook to catch colorful and vibrant fish as you head deeper and deeper into the blue sea. It has pretty cool music and sound effects and can be a fun experience for everyone.

WORDS FROM DEVEVLOPER: Game Jams are hard. This is my third game jam, and I definitely felt really pressured and even a bit sad while I worked on this game but I am relieved to finally finish it. I hope I can become a better video game developer over the years and really get some great games out there!

Great game, the musics and graphics are cool. The only problem is when you catch a fish the time to come to the surface is too long. But otherwise it's a very good game.

Nice gameplay idea and graphics! I really liked how 'natural' it felt to have to do the buttom smashing to get fish back up. I am not sure what you meant with the ingame tool-tip, but when I pressed 'R' it simply reset the hook to the surface without giving points.

Hi @penelope, thanks for checking out the game! If you were confused, pressing 'R' resets the hook to the surface as well as resetting all of the fish that you have caught (without losing your points) or fish that got away. This feature was added in, so if you eventually ran out of a certain type of fish, you were able to reset and catch more.

I enjoyed this game. If I had to critique something, it would be the time between catching fish. Once I caught the shark for example, I had to wait a very long time before being able to catch another fish again. Maybe if the reeling in was faster, or if there was something to do on the way up this aspect could be better. I felt that most of the time spent in the game I was not doing anything. Onto the positives, I absolutely love the graphics. The pixelart is very good and I especially like the watery filter over the entire screen, it gives the game a very nice touch. I like the vignette getting more prominent the further down you go, but I don't enjoy the music getting quieter, I feel that could have been done away with. Also, the font choice is rather annoying. Other than those small things, I really enjoyed this, nice job.

Awesome game man, loved the music and art, Once thing I don't think the reel up should take too long as the player doesn't feel incentivized to go deeper for more rare fish
