[raw]
made by Ansh Mishra for Ludum Dare 48 (JAM)

Deeper Inside is a Visual Novel where you are a depressed person. Will you face your past in your deep dreams to reform yourself? It is up to you. It has 3 major unique endings. dild48screens.pngdild48screens1.pngdild48screens2.png HOW TO PLAY In order to play you have to use keyboard keys. [P] to play on menu or [E] to exit game on any screen. [Spacebar] to proceed through lines and [A],[B] and [C] when the choices are available to choose. Press corresponding key and then press spacebar to proceed.

It is made for Ludum Dare 48. Made with C++ and SFML. I used audio I created earlier this month. I did Pixel art myself.

It's okay, but the game's too short in my opinion

Thanks for showing interest in the game. If you have time and if it is not much of a hassle try this fix.

It worked for me and I think it's a good minimalistic entry. I think it would be better to have numbers as the dialogue choice buttons instead of A, B and C. And it would be great if the button immediately then forwarded the dialogue, instead of having to press space as well.

@poorwill Thanks! I will have mouse input in post-jam version with choices in separate box so can just click on them to move forward.

Definitely a unique take on the theme. I played the post fix version, but you should really upload a version of the game with the fix built into the zip file rather than having the player manually patch the game.

Maaan... I followed you, just in case. Joking here. I'd have some tissues around playing this. The story is quite specific and gruesome sometimes. But at some point many were there. Maybe if it was more of an experience for everyone to get attached to (more interactive and Player-centered), would be cooler. Some sfx on choices and fastforward after the choice is a must. Overall, I felt that fellow, man, I tried to sympathize, got a better ending at first time. If a better ending is a better one, though.

@ardorugus Thanks :). I did plan on sfx, more art and much more for the game but realistically it was not achievable as I had learned how to draw in 2d with SFML during the jam. So I had to cut back on lot of things in order to finish it. Hopefully I will be able to learn and put all that stuff soon in post jam version. Once again thanks. Also fun fact it has 27 endings in total ;).

Very short, but interesting. It may be a good idea to shuffle (or at least re-word) the choices, because it is extremely obvious which choices will lead you to which ending. For example, C is always the positive choice and A is always the negative, so not much thinking is involved. Other than that, I think this is a solid entry and good take on the theme :)

Nice game! My only complaint is the difficulty of the controls. It could be simply 1-3.

Really pulled some heartstrings.... it's beautiful and sad, and the music is so fitting. 😢 The simplicity of the art is perfect, too. Nice job!

This was definitely some deep subject material. I liked the dissonant music and the way the art changed based on your choices. With so many endings to see, I would have liked to have an option to restart at the end instead of having to close and reopen the game. I also think some more interesting story-based choices would help the player feel more immersed and connected to the game character.

Very nice piano music, it really builds the mood.

I felt there should be some indication of the choice you made. I mean, where you press A, B, C nothing really happens. It's a bit confusing at first. If the chosen option would get highlighted (or something like that), that would be nice :).

@fabula-rasa Thanks! Yeah visual and sound feedback would be nicer. I will implement that in post-jam version.

This was neat. I started off making the "good" choices, and then eventually realized that I probably wouldn't actually do that, and then made the choices I actually would make. However, when I did pick the "wrong" choice, it picked the right one anyway? I couldn't tell if the game actually didn't have choices, and just assumed that I would pick the right one... is it just a slide show? :P. One thing I think text adventures normally fail at is just having giant blocks of text, this did a great job of giving bite sized pieces to read.

@cameronpenner Ohhh just tested that choice bug, it happens when I press the choice key more than one time. Thanks for letting me know about it. Thanks for the praise too :)
