It took me a second to understand but once you do it's a very fun game, i would love to play something like that on mobile !

Nice work !

As the previous commenter pointed out, it's a bit tough to figure out what to do, but it's really a nice unique idea and a fun game! I wish the movement of the world wouldn't stop if I change position sideways, but apart from that, great work! :)

I enjoyed it! Great concept, and unique. Also nailed the deeper and deeper theme!

What a cool game! I was originally planning to make a tunnel game like this but I decided against it. I'm glad I left it to you. It's basically a 3d maze which is awesome!!

Keep up the good work!

A graphics setting to turn down the effects might be worth adding in if you plan on continuing to work a post compo-version. the effects give me a headache, but core gameplay is solid.

It's super cool, and kudos for making your own engine. That's a lot of C code. I actually tried recompiling the source, but I realized the input scheme I desire would be a bit of an overhaul. Ideally I'd like the up arrow to move my pixel up, left to the left, and so on. None of this, counter clockwise nonsense. But hey otherwise this thing was pretty cool, and fulfilled the part of me that was hoping for an into the black hole experience. Cheers !

@michael-feldman - thanks for the feedback. You described the input scheme I would have added if I had 30 more minutes. Stay tuned.

@doommustard - Was it the background graphics that bothered you or the death effects?

For me it was the background graphics which bothered me. I didn't die before making the first comment, but after I tried to die to see the effects I could see that bothering someone as well.

This is a pretty unique game, really good for the compo, but one thing, you should enable controls for WASD keys

Very interesting visually, but a bit difficult to get the hang of the controls. I reached a part where I couldn't go any further, since a closed square appeared. Anyway great idea and very unique, well done!

The 3d effect is cool, even if it hurts my eyes right now. Definitely something interesting here. Perhaps simplifying the maze and having constant movement "super hexagon" style would be an idea.

Cool and trippy game, and solid art style. Was a little bit disorienting to move when not on the top part. Great entry!

you've got a solid base going here. super crazy you did that all in c++.. i'm really impressed. and code quality/appearance is really nice at a glance!

Remind me of Hexagon which I played a lot and loved! So I had a lot of fun trying to find my way to the center! Really nice effect when we go deeper an deeper  Congratulations :v:

Really innovative, I had already seen games kind of like this one, but the fact that you can go forward/backward adds another level of complexity. Sound design is minimal but efficient.
There's a good amount of polish for a compo, and the game feels complete

It could use a bit of a smoother difficulty curve. At the start I wanted the game to go slower, but then when I got to the maze I was used to the controls. The mazes were very challenging ! The fact that you can't see the entire maze makes it very difficult.

It's really innovative and feels a little trippy in its aesthetics. Overall I had fun playing the game and the concept is interesting.

Thanks to all that played Pix'in'. Your feedback and comments are much appreciated.
I've added a [1.2 version](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1W921kYs2iqxTf5bamKzVMQS8dWRYNXge/view?usp=sharing) that:
* still defaults to the compo entry gameplay,
* supports WASD in addition to the arrow keys to accommodate a wider variety of keyboards, and
* adds a direct movement mode (as well as an experimental always moving mode).

---

@michael-feldman: I implemented the control scheme you described. You can try 1.2 with the 'Direct' control mode.

@nevermiind: Please send the debug console output if you get a chance.

@srrinio: Version 1.2 supports WASD controls.

@silkwork-sweatshop: I tried out the continuous movement idea (see the experimental control modes in 1.2). You're right - I'd have to greatly reduce the maze density for it to not be ... 'challenging'.

@jamr: Thanks for checking out the code. I did a few nasty C++ tricks towards the end ...

I've liked the game, I'll definitely play it again in the future. I think some kind of scoring/time tracking system would help make it a bit more engaging.

Interesting game. I liked that you could not see the entire maze. This made it quite a bit harder. Good entry.

Really compelling mood and aesthetic going on here! As you well know the audio is overly simple but it fits the Polybius-meets-Interstellar vibe that's going on, I feel. For gameplay it's not very sophisticated but it's a novel presentation of the basic maze concept, so overall I gave it a 4/5. Super impressive for your first compo entry!!!

nice! I liked the idea; I think it could have been pushed further somehow, where I would be required to delve pretty deep and then back out to figure out where to go. Maybe hard mode _is_ this, and I just got lucky on my one run? nice work, and I am interested in checking out raylib so thank you for the source code!

Huh, really gave me the super hexagon vibes, but less punishing and with mazes. Liked the graphical effects for sure - they looked very nice. The controls are weird though, I personally couldn't get used to any of the layouts. A very solid entry nonetheless!

This was a super interesting game, I enjoyed how the movement scheme encouraged me to think about movement in a different way. I do wish that you could move forward/backward and left/right at the same time though, this game looks absolutely beautiful in motion so I didn't like needing to stop every time I had to move laterally.

@dninosores I like the challenge of the CW/CCW, but I put in a 'Direct' set of controls that allow you to move in the direction you hit. Left/Right on the bottom menu item of version 1.2 will do it. I find it gets difficult to work out in the corners (probably something I could solve).

Thanks for the review!

Very neat concept, unusual and engaging. I think it would work very well as a music-inspired / oriented experience. Would love to see more of it, hope you keep working on the game. Great job!
