WINCH by Gorialis

[raw]
made by Gorialis for Ludum Dare 48 (COMPO)

My first submission to Ludum Dare!

I had been mulling over ideas for nearly every final round theme except for this one. Figures. You might be able to recognize ideas based on some of the other themes.

I figured "Deeper and deeper" would probably be interpreted most as either something mining-like or some deep spiritual meaning. So I decided to subvert both of those and take it in a very literal-to-word sense. Each level is one level deeper in the screen!

One thing I became pretty aware of during the Compo was that level design doesn't come to me easily, so, being a level-based game, this ended up being pretty short on playtime. Maybe next LD I'll try to lean more in the direction of environment design or big open spaces instead.

The graphics and mechanics are so cool! It reminded me of WALL-E. The difficulty could ramp up a little faster to be more engaging but overall really nice and polished. The music was relaxing.

This was really fun! However, the dragging mechanic was a little bit weird at times

One of my favorites from this jam. The puzzles were well designed and I loved the look and feel of the game.

Awesome game ! I really liked the puzzles and the different interactions. I had some problem at first with the mouse control (especially when you have to move a bloc horizontally quickly), but I got used to it, and there weren't many puzzles based on precise timing so it wasn't a huge problem.
This point aside, I absolutely enjoyed playing through the entire game so excellent job !

That's some of the cutest robot animations I've seen in a game. Some of the dexterity puzzles were a bit too difficult for when you had to juggle between objects, but a great little puzzle game!

What a cute little robot! This is quite a fun puzzle game, lots of interesting interactions. The objects sometimes become stuck which can be frustrating, but overall a solid entry! The music is also really nice too!

Wow, very impressive compo entry, particularly for a first time entry!

I think you had progression just about right in terms of adding new mechanics per level, FWIW

Very cute! Gameplay felt a bit vanilla, and puzzles (up to the level where you move the barrel-shaped thing to the sensor) felt more like mouse-dexterity challenges =P Some nice graphical touches, like the camera-head following your mouse and being able to see the next levels behind the current one.

Amazing game, loved the reference and the mechanics are outstanding - simple, with a neat and challenging progression.

One of the most awesome game that i played till now. Great work!

Cool puzzle game. I liked the idea and the graphics look fantastic. I felt that some of the blocked moved a bit to slow so it was hard to complete some of the puzzles.

Nice little game and unique mechanics. I stuck at the 5th(?) stage, where I could not move the stuff in a way that I can move forward. As a first LD game, this is way more than I expected!

Amazing compo! The mechanics is very interesting. Nice models and mood. The audio complement the game very well. The puzzles are nice, but sometimes it gets annoying to move things around. Didn't get to the end, how many levels are there?

This was a stunning game. Everything about it is excellent. From the music to the sounds to the graphics to the very intuitive game play. I think the puzzles progressively got harder at a good pace and the amount of levels was appropriate for a jam event. This was an excellent game. Amazing work!

This was great! Enjoyed every second of it!

The music created an excellent vibe, and the puzzles were neat and progressed nicely, and the controls were comfortable and intuitive enough.

The theme, while taken literally, was slightly underdone in my opinion, I was fully expecting to be able to go deeper into the screen as a mechanic (the "WASD" controls icon might have mislead me).

Other than that, super good entry, loved it

Juggling multiple the things at once was a bit annoying, but I loved the theming and the levels were pretty good!
