Deeper and Dipper logo.png

fight your way to the Dip!

the legend tells about the great nacho who found a legendary dip that was protected in deepest trench of time by the evil snacks.

no one ever returns from the trench of time..

now, the brave Dipper The Nacho (That's you!) will be adventuring back to the aztec period in persuit of legendary dip just like the ones who came before. Will he survive?

This game is intentionally hard, try to beat the Chydra boss, there's a whole another level afterwards.

Run Dipper RUn!.png

Run fullscreen, on non 16:9 screens at your own risk

Developer Notes: "Were happy to hear your feedback and sadly, we know the movement is a bit clunky, do note that there is a double jump that we forgot to mention in the tutorial, both the jump and the double jump are FORCE based and not VELOCITY based, which means tapping the jump button twice fast will give you more distance than waiting to use your double jump, same thing applies for the Launch that you get further into the game. This was initially intentional because we believed it increased the skill ceiling but it reality it was just an annoying mechanic, we really hope you can look past this and try to continue playing, we promise after a few retries you'll get the feel to it, and remember the game is intentionally not a walk in the park"

The illustrations are really cool, couldn't get to the platform to kill the third creature though.

Art is very nice, and the mood/humor was pretty nice. The games feels clunky though, movement feels a bit slippery and the double jump is higher when you jump as soon as possible after your initial jump(Why?). If shooting was only to the direction you are facing, maybe an alternative button would be better. Overall, needs some changes for precision but the art and humor is very good.

I love the humor of the game, but I really missed some UI elements. Would have loved to see my health or the health of the enemies.
I'm really sure that you didn't made the music yourself, so you should have opted-out of the audio category or state that you only made the soundeffects.

Great story! Also the animations of Dipper are really nice, especially that right-click attack.
As someone else said the movement was a bit clunky/too realistic.
I never got past that monster after the hydra, was that the last boss?
The music was really good. Did you make it yourselfs?

Overall a great first LD game, good on you!

@doriansnowball I’ve actually make all the music by myself except the opening that was sampled from old mexican song :)

I also couldn't get the jump to the first platform but loved the art and humour.

Really enjoyed the concept and mood! very fun entry :) I found it really hard to play, as other mentioned it didn't feel as smooth but still a super fun entry!

Very interesting game. The controls were slightly weird, having to use enter on the dialog when my hand is on WASD and the other hand is on my mouse. And it definitely needs some bullet animations, I couldn't see where I was shooting. Cool game though, awesome job!

I loved your art and music! But as the other commenters said, the controls feel a bit clunky :/ Still, great job!

The art style is very particular, with differing pixel sizes and the main characters and enemies not even being pixel art I believe. Not sure if it meshed the best together.

But damn did I still enjoy this because of the absolutely over the top theme and had to see this Nacho's quest till the end.

I agree with the other comments that the character/enemy art in this game is very nice! Great job.

I got stuck on the spike area where you're introduced to the right-click ability. However I am not sure if I'm meant to use that ability to get pass the spikes; the right click ability seems to add a linear force downwards so when I try double jumping across and then use the ability, I'm moving towards the spikes instead.

I like the art work, it's not every day you play as a nacho dip. Other people have already mentioned the controls so I won't mention that. Would've liked to see a UI for me health to indicate how much health I have remaining. Also maybe some bullets being visible would've been a nice addition. With shooting being assigned to the mouse button, I was expecting some kind of crosshair. Not sure if you're aware but when the red enemies chases after you, the character looks in the opposite direction.

Good effort!

Love this concept and the theme twist. Super cool art. Great job on the animations, like adding the balancing-on-the-edge animation, nice little detail there.

Great job!

Great art style you got in here! I would say maybe making the bullets bigger would be good, I couldn't really know when if I was shooting something or not out of my gun. Pretty complete game, go for nacho 2!

nice graphic design, it would have been much easier if you had some bullets coming out of the gun :) but in general it was fun! good design

Great art style! I think the pixel backgrounds looks good behind the drawn characters (not sure about the tiles, to be honest).

Congrats, it is a nice submission!

love the artwork, especially the french fry guys. the controls, especially the double-jump were just not working properly. there was no consistency to jumping. also not seeing a bullet made it difficult to figure out how to shoot them. also not having some indication of how much health i had led to "why did i die" moments. it was not all bad. it was pretty fun. thanks for making it.
