Untitled Bruce Game by icefallgames

[raw]
made by icefallgames for Ludum Dare 48 (COMPO)

Bruce has to keep dropping! Deeper and deeper! LD48.gif

I didn't get to complete all the mechanics I wanted, or have time to introduce them gradually, so the third (final) level may be a bit confusing! There are basically supposed to be two fundamental ideas in the game: - you move inexorably down every time you move - I wanted to play with interactions between the "background" part of the level and the portion fixed to the camera, but didn't really have the time to explore this properly, so I'm not sure that comes across.

Controls: - WASD or arrow keys. - SPACE to jump - X to undo - R to restart level

Really good! Love the idea, the execution, the art. The audio is a bit funky, and especially the "hmm"s seem to happen a few dozen milliseconds late so at first I didn't get that they were connected to moving around haha. I love the fact that you can undo, the game would be tedious otherwise. With the undo mechanic though, it was a lot of fun figuring out the different obstacles. Good shit!

Great work, this is a fun, innovative, and unique puzzle game which really had me thinking on my feet to get through the levels. The mechanics are all well thought out and make sense. Seeing like, 100 levels of this with a soundtrack would be awesome.

Very interesting! When I first started playing, I didn't think I would like it. After a little bit of playing, I started understanding how things worked better and became impressed at your creativity.

Nice game and well executed. The undo mechanic was nice but I think having a limit on the number of times you can use it in one level or some other way to limit it would have been good. As it is currently, being able to spam it as much as you want makes it extremely easy.

Really fun little puzzle/platformer! Thanks for providing the ability the undo a move, I loved the different challenges with the water/rock/box as I was going down the level. Nice addition of LD48 using the level tiles btw! Audio was quite funny :) Great take on the theme, awesome job!

Suprisingly fun concept! I had alot of fun trying to figure out the optimal strategy for a level. I could see myself spending alot of time with this game if it had more levels. The ability to undo actions was definitly a worthy implementation and made the game much more approachable.

Also, the sound effects are straight out of a AAA game :)

Love this. It reminds me a little of the levels in the original Rayman that force you to keep up as the screen moves along from left to right, or as water fills the level. It's nice that you get a little more time to think through what you're doing, though! The only real improvement I could suggest would be more levels - it feels as though the ones you have already are pretty well polished.

I love the sfx :D great concept too, for the theme, it must have been hard to design the levels, its a lot of branching!

I love this idea! The anti-aliased font on such a small scale in a pixel art game doesn't look so great btw. But this could totally be built upon and made into a really cool puzzle game. Gj!

Yo! I really liked this game! The main mechanic was really good and tied into the theme very well. Also loved the moody music and the silly "hmm" sound effects when moving. The rock mechanic was also pretty awesome and I liked how you explained those mechanics without explicitly explaining them. Good work!

I love this game so much, and I believe that this is one of the greatest puzzle in this game! The level design is pretty prefect!

Really nice puzzle platformer! There's a lot that can be done with this idea and of the many "platformer where you head downward" games i've played so far this one is the best. Also the sound effects are great.

I really liked the concept and the overall execution was great! I only wish there were more levels and mechanics to explore but that's not on you, that's on the 48 hours! Very fun game. :)

Very fun puzzles! Audio was fun and the mechanics were interesting. The redo mechanic was a very nice touch as well.

Superb execution of a very original idea! The puzzles didn't feel unfair and the level design made me want to keep pushing forward to explore each new mechanic that was introduced.

Please keep working on this game as it has a tremendous amount of potential. Excellent work!

Awesome game overall! Loved when you can feel the intention of the level design, and the undo mechanic is super important without making the game feel too easy!

Really fun gameplay, and even quite inovative in my opinion. Like to see a puzzle game for a change here. The level design was pretty good there :) the game never got boring, I was excited to see new ideas put into the levels. One can see, that you had more mechanics in mind than you could implement in time, cause the game wasn't that long, which isn't bad at all, but a longer game of this game wouldn't be bad either^^ The sound effects were fun^^

A vnique take on the theme and probably my favourite game so far!
