Diver Dave (Saves The Sea) by Yanergy

[raw]
made by Yanergy for Ludum Dare 48 (COMPO)

(WebGl version is now fixed (I hope :))

In this game you play as a diver called Dave. Your goal is to save the ocean of the junk and get the sick fish to safety.

At first your diving gear is not good enough to swin very deep but as you play and gather coins, you can upgrade it and swin deeper and deeper.

Controls: You move by holding your left mouse button towards the desired direction. You can gather trash or sick fish by swimming into them. Be carefull, because if you pick up the regular healthy fish, you will lose coins. You can press F to open up your menu to go back to the main menu, upgrade gear or rebirth.

It's fun! I'd appreciate if you made the sound effect for when you loose coins different than the one for when you get coins though

Game is really cool. Mouse movement here is SO much better than lots of games like this using WASD and slow movement. This is actually fun to move around in, great primary loop. Please push a bug fix to the WebGL version!

It's alla working fine, the game is nice to play, the fish on the second depth are a little bit confusing colorwise, but I guess it's intentional.

Your game is really fun! I spent more time with it than I want to admit. Just one thing: As the other commenter said, a different sound for losing coins would be nice.

Nice game. I like the art. I think the game would have been better if there was music :) I managed to get to the third diving equipment. Good job :)

I like dodge all the fish, controls are top, the idea is good too, we progress by steep, like when we make scuba diving, but the game is lttle repetitive and the fish who give points bonus have a reapparition time much slower than the others.

Great game, I had some great fun! Managed to go quite deep before not finding any bad fishes to capture (Seems like there is a cap to the number of fishes? and if they are all good fishes, then you are stuck?). The motion with the mouse felt good and I love the graphics  Congratulations!

Primary loop is fun, I like that the upgrades don't lock off previous areas and the movement feels good. I think the sound effects could be more varied and some ambient music would be nice, but otherwise great job!

Played this longer than I thought I would. Feels pretty good to play, I just wished there were some more differences between the layers of depth. Maybe adding some different sea creatures and changing up how they move?

A really fun game, i got to the pink fish on stage 5 i think but than there i found less fish i could collect, i think some background music would have been nice and maybe a different sollecting sound for the good and the bad fish and the money, maybe hiegh tones for good and deep ones for bad, so that you have some audio feedback for the player to undestand easier what is good or bad

I hear a lot of people saying that the are missing more audio lol. I tried last minute to implement some but the deadline was in my time at 3:00 am so i had to stop earlier than i wanted. I really wanted to add more audio too but ended up not having more time. But I completely get what you are saying. More audio would have done the game better.

(Webgl version is broken for me - I just have a black screen)

Agree with the rest of the reviewers, main mechanic feels tight, difficulty level is just right, well done! I'm sure with more time you could've easily made it a lot better too.

+1 for making the good/bad fish easier to distinguish

Pixel art was really well done, but I found it nearly impossible to avoid catching healthy fish. This made making progress feel really really slow. I understand wanting to make it challenging, but I felt like there was really nothing I could do to avoid grabbing the healthy fish, so I eventually stopped caring.

At the second depth level the health and sick fish were virtually indistinguishable. They should be much easier to tell apart.

Other than that, I think it was a nice concept and could be a fun game if tweaked a little. Great work.
