The Way to Survive by HerryFabien

Hello everyone, thanks for checking out the game we've made.
We've had some issues when creating it, hence it's not as feature complete as we would have liked.
But still, here is the game we've made for the JAM ! Hope you can still enjoy it.

Story
Robots are coming, they want to stop you as you’re one of the last remains of humanity. Guide this tribe, help them build a shelter and fight against the waves of drones! If you’re fast enough maybe you’d be able to reach the ancient ruin deep in the north containing the weapon that will save us all. The path will be long, you may need to construct multiple bases. Good Luck!

Controls
- Left click to select
- Right click to give order
- Building placement is bottom right
- Camera movement is WASD/ZQSD/Arrows
- Press L for Lots of Fun

A nice thing to have would be if your survivors automatically go back to the storage to drop their resources.
Awesome game!
@numex Thanks alot, the music is not ours, there are informations about it in the description
@zerocomms We haven't worked on supporting other control than mouse+keyboard but it's maybe something to look into :)
@drskort Thanks, we noticed the selection display would have been nice but didn't had the time to actually add it. Haven't had crash myself but thanks for the warning/informations :)
@kenforest thanks for your feedback, like I said the music we 'just' choosed it, informations is available on the project description.
@lisyarus @drskort we will try to do something for the freeze, we are really sorry for this bad experience.
There are so much things we wanted to add but didn't get the time for it like more feedback for the player and more autonomy. That can be some nice idea for a future update post Ludum dare thanks !
And thank you again for appreciating the gameplay and the art (I'm so happy that you appreciate the art :D)
@bigbadbison We were missing so much time I would have really love to add more animation but couldn't. You can have some small feedback with the sound, but I know its totally not enough. , thanks for your comment =)
@itsonrandom Thank you for your message ! Yeah it can take some times to manage to control the worker efficienlty the misses some feedback and polishing. That was quite a hard challenge we made, but despite that is miss somme feature we are still proud of the result.
And again thank you all for your comments, it's really heartwarming !
@turquoise-moon thanks, we're totally aware of that, we were too short on time to implement it for the JAM though.
And thanks @turquoise-moon also ! The color of the workers as a lot of other small feature could'nt make in time but it was wanted features from us as well (there is somewhere an asset of a red cross to tell the player he can't do an action, bu it couldn't be integred in the game =(
For the ludum dare we can't add new features, but maybe later we will be able to upgrade the game ^^
I think if you work on the feedback it could become a great game for a full release. (Which worker is selected, if you tell them to do an action that they can't do, notify with a sound and a message why not, progress bars for building, etc). There's just a bit of a learning curve with a game like this, and even with your tutorial, players will try to do some things that aren't allowed. That feedback would go a long way.
@doctortm The sound is not from us, you can find the credits in the description, But thank you a lot to find the graphisme cute =D
@mhorth There are so much thing we would like to add for a full release, thanks for the tips !
One thing would be nice is if the selected objects have a highlight around them, so, maybe like two highlight colors, one when an object is selected and the other being the "go to here" grid square to be highlighted.
Just some visual cues would be awesome.
Great graphics, sounds and controls.
Thanks for the game.
thanks @geo3d ! This is not push yet but we add this week some visual for a selected item, there is still a long road but we wanted to work a little more on this game.
- all the characters are called the same, I easily mixed them up.
- because they have no animation, I couldn't understand who does what at the moment.
Despite these, the fact you managed to put this together in 2-3 days, it's really impressive!
That was part of the plan but unforeseen problems kinda forced us to cut in the project ! We are making a post jam version where we include those features actually
