Downtown Payback by Letsgall
You bought some candy in a mafia owned shop, but the transaction was declined... Now they are after your cash, so you have to defend yourself with weapons bought from the very same shop! In this fast-paced top down shooter, try to survive the deepening debt to an ever growing mafia army. Punch bad guys, buy illegal weaponry (with credit) and shoot bees!
Made by a very confused team of four, the Ludum Dare 48 is our very first game jam.!

If I had to give some constructive critisism:
- The controls are a bit like sliding on ice - it's probably because you're treating the player as a physics object in Unity and applying forces (instead of WASD translating directly to movement as it does in most games)
- It's a bit hard to tell sometimes if I'm damaging an enemy or not, maybe giving them health bars or blood or something would help
I died pretty quickly though, I bought a sword and they started shooting, what a mad world.
If you have plan to improve your game, even if I understand i is a rogue like game, a saving tool can be an idea
If the gameplay was a bit more clear and juicy then it would be prefect.
Anyway, I had a lot of fun while playing, great job.
- Frenetic and fun
- Weapon and item variety is insane!!
- Good replayability
- Really wished you didn't have to rewatch the cutscene when restarting
I'm very impressed! Honestly the most fun game I've played this jam. It's super fun to mow down enemies and then have to run back to the store to get a new gun!
