Deep Mine by NateTheGreat
Deep Mine is a mining game staged in a massive sand and particle simulation. It brings a Noita-like twist on an old classic resource management flash game (inspired by Motherload). The only goal is to go deeper and deeper by upgrading your equipment. There are a variety of resources to mine, upgrades to work toward, and procedural terrain generation for each play through. Definitely tons of room to add features and expand it to a longer game but unfortunately I am out of time!
I implemented the Falling Sand engine from scratch in Javascript several months ago but it quickly became an abandoned project. I am glad it finally got to be used in a real project and I hope to clean it up and release it separately later.
NOTE: There are several issues in Firefox that can make the game unplayable. I am working on a fix but for now I recommend using Chrome.
Controls
- WASD or Arrow Keys

Congrats!
Also poked thru the code, nice to see a full threejs project like this as an example! (I've poked around the basics myself, but yet to see a project this size) good work!
@frozenfire92 The code is a bit of a mess so probably not the best threejs example code, but I'm glad if it helps!
@nephronhunter the tree fires were something that happened accidentally and I left it in because it was funny. Sorry it backfired for you! Maybe they shouldn't have built the shop so close to that tree...
@Catomag It just barely works performance wise. I did all of the optimizations mentioned in the Noita tech talk minus the multithreading. I consider myself lucky that so far I haven't had any comments saying it runs too slowly :)
@lenophie In the description I only mentioned it briefly but I can provide more details here: The engine was made a while ago based on the Noita tech talk at GDC where they spill their secrets  I was intending to release the engine on its own since I don't think there are any engines/plugins out there that provide something similar to the "Falling everything engine" but I kind of lost interest and it became a dead project. I realized it would work perfectly for this jam so I used it as the engine for this game even though it is incomplete, hopefully this inspires me enough to pick it back up and finish the engine enough to release it!

How could you not add sand to the thrusters or the other ores?!
oh geez what a game, the engine you have here is bloody amazing. Your drill clearly doesn't appreciate how impressive it is though since it gets stuck on things a lot. Your artwork could also use some improvements as well, but im not sure how in the cards that is for you.
IF your really only goal is making a tech demo though, I'd say you'd passed that test with flying colors.
Also I dug to 6666 to see if anything would happen (Mr. Natas), slightly disappointed but had a ton of fun along the way : )
The use of the falling sand engine had a really interesting and positive effect on a basic digging game. Good thinking.
Also the music is pretty cool, gives instant terraria vibes!
My one suggestion would be to add more obstacles and/or enemies so you can't just dig straight down
Overall very nice, the graphics look pretty neat as long as they are coherent. Maybe some separation between the "+ x resource" and "tank low" messages would be helpful - i.e. show the warning to the side or something.
Thanks for submitting your game for me to play on stream! I played it yesterday. You can watch me play it here (at 2:02:10).
