Quite an interesting concept, perhaps it could be expanded on a little bit in the future! You could turn this concept in a more fully formed game!
I really like being able to put the pickaxe inside a wall to slow down a fall!
Good job!
This is like a reverse climbing game and a welcome change of pace from all the other jam games so far involving a pickaxe
I really *dig* games where the challenge is traversal itself. I enjoyed this one.
It would be nice to have a method of seeing what lies below. It could even just be pressing the down arrow while hanging from your pick or looking over a ledge, causing the game camera to pan some depth down. You would have a chance to methodically plan your next jump.
I would love to see where this goes. Thanks for the game!
The mechanic of falling down and then sticking to the wall with the pickaxe was so fun! I can see potential for this if you ever decide to continue on this game. Quite a shame that the rope function did not serve much of a purpose during my gameplay. I'd like to see it in better use, too!
Otherwise, it was a fun game! Liked it quite a lot. Great job!
Just some points:
- Sometimes you become a moving corpse when you respawn
- When you're hanging and release 'x', the sprite changes although you're still hanging
- It would be easier to play if the pick stayed in the wall until you move or jump (istead of when you release 'x')
Some remark: game needs more variety to maintain interest.
Nice entry!
the sounds of falling and the pickaxe scraping against the walls were pretty satisfying
although i wish there was a clearer indication of how far you have to fall in order to die
(and also let the player respawn automatically :p)
really good job :>
Really sorry - wish I could have played and rated your game.
Like others have also mentioned, I finished it without using a rope. I think it comes down to the fact that learning the ropes - pun intended - is costly. There isn't enough experimentation room to learn how to use it properly in the same way that the other mechanics have (fall damage and pickaxing).
But it was a pleasant experience all the same. Good job on the music starting near the end of the climb, it worked really well!
To be honest, amongst all the mechanics, I found the ropes to be the most interesting and with strong potential. Perhaps if, similar to *Terraria*, there was a way to shoot them into the walls, as well as gathering more from in-world pick-ups, could make the mechanic more useful. If the pick axe must remain, it might be interesting to add climbing up ceilings of caves to make the item less useful.
