Shark Attack! by LittleW00D

Sharky.png Calamity Island is the hottest tourist destination within the islands of doom! Why not sit back and relax on one of our many radioactive beaches, or take a swim in the tranquil shark infested ocean? ᴺᵒᵗᵉ: ᶜᵃˡᵃᵐᶦᵗʸ ᴵˢˡᵃⁿᵈ ᵀᵒᵘʳᶦˢᵗ ᴮᵒᵃʳᵈ ʰᵃˢ ⁿᵒ ᵒᵇˡᶦᵍᵃᵗᶦᵒⁿˢ ᶠᵒʳ ʸᵒᵘʳ ᵒʷⁿ ˢᵃᶠᵉᵗʸ ᵃⁿᵈ ʷᵉˡˡᵇᵉᶦⁿᵍ ᵃⁿᵈ ʷᶦˡˡ ⁿᵒᵗ ᵇᵉ ʳᵉˢᵖᵒⁿˢᶦᵇˡᵉ ᶠᵒʳ ᵈᵉᵃᵗʰ, ᵈᶦˢᵐᵉᵐᵇᵉʳᵐᵉⁿᵗ, ᵈʳᵉᵃᵈᶠᵘˡ ʰᵒˡᶦᵈᵃʸˢ ᵒʳ ᵇᵉᶦⁿᵍ ᵃ ʰᵘⁿᵍʳʸ ˢʰᵃʳᵏ'ˢ ᵈᶦⁿⁿᵉʳ. ᴺᴼ ᴿᴱᶠᵁᴺᴰˢᵎᵎᵎ

Had to abandon my original idea due to time constraints, but pretty happy with what I've achieved in less than 14 hours.

Your water texture is great. I'll keep it in mind :)

Cute art and intuitive controls! I think making it a little more difficult would go a long way! Great work submitting after having to abandon your first try.

Fun bopping around as a shark. I found it difficult to time the jumping to get the people in the little boats. The bomb dropping noises got a bit repetitive after having a lot of bombs on the screen at once. I played it a few times, it was good fun!

Every time I tried to jump, a boat stops over me and I miss the opportunity t.t

Did you do the game in 14hours? NICE WORK! I wonder what you can do in a weekend

Congrats!

It's thrilling once you get the hang of it.

Quite a quirky game. I like the idea of using momentum to destroy boats by falling on them. A bit tricky to get used to, but it's well worth it. Other than few instances where it took a while for boats to appear on the screen at all, the game itself was fun and challenging. Other than that, I do like the aesthetics a lot. Simple yet charming, and the water's gradient is very well done!

I do have to make the observation though, I don't think I've ever played a game this loud in my life. I'm not sure if there was something on my end, but you may want to lower the volume overall or add buttons or a slider in the future.

Other than that, glad that you made it in! Rather impressive for something done that quickly! Keep it up! :whale:

For 14 hours it is certainly a feat you made a submission on time! It's quite a shame you have to throw out your original idea... it would have been great!

Going up and down is pretty slow which diminishes from the gameplay and the sounds from the bombs explodes does get tiring for a while. Great work though!

The style is very cute! The shark and the water are particularly good!

The sound of the humming speedboats (I assume) is... not-pleasant. It would be better without it. The other sounds work well, such as the bombs and the splashing.
I'd also consider speeding up the shark's movement speed.
It's unclear what the objective is. I had to read the comments to see that jumping into boaters gives you points.

This is a good for the 14 hours you've put in, and very nice artwork! Good job!

Very impressive for 14 hours! I really enjoyed the game's mechanic, it's simple to pick up but takes practice to get good at it, unforgiving as it is. There were many times when it spawned a bomb after it would have been possible to react to not hit it, maybe it can be improved by giving some warning when a boat is about to drop a bomb? Also, as other commenters noted I think the sound got old pretty quickly, but the simple graphics worked great for this type of arcade game experience.

I love the Atari feel for this game. Good work, the controls are a little jammy. Thanks.

Agreeing with another user that the sfx should be toned down, and the player speed increased a little, but I think there is a fun idea that can be expanded on in this demo game - I like the core verb of breaching the water to eat a boat. A good idea might be to have the boat not spawn a bomb if the player is too close to feasibly move out of the way.

I really like the graphics it would be great to have a little Text at the start which tells you the Target of the game

That was pretty fun! Trying to get the momentum right while doging the bombs is a fun mechanic.

Cute fun game. It is fun when you get hang of it, but sounds.....that really needs work. I was wearing earphones...and was at only around 20-30% of volume still destroyed my ear(Just Kidding). But yeah sound needs work especially when lots of bombs drop it gets annoying. Still quite impressive for making this game in 14 hrs.

Quite a fun game! I really liked the little shark and water texture. The controls feel a little bit sluggish, but it was fun trying to time my jumps with the ships. The sound was VERY load!

Nice attractive game. A little difficult but rewarding eating mechanic.
