You're a gravedigger - your job is to dig deep graves or not so deep, or relocate inhabitants from one grave to another - SKY IS THE LIMIT

Controls: Arrows - Move

Space - Jump/WallJump

Ctrl - Dig (with arrows digs also up and down)

Shift - Grab near coffin

When you grab coffin it will show you on what depth it should be buried.

All was done using Unity Bolt Visual Scripting - not even ONE line of code was written :) It's quite unfinished/untested/unpolished but taking into consideration many DISTRACTIONS during this weekend and a total of maybe 14 hours I'm quite happy with the result. Some of the features i didn't had time to implement and was really looking into it was some enemies that you can just punch with the shovel, more platforming etc.

Music by: sawsquarenoise (https://freemusicarchive.org/music/sawsquarenoise/dojokratos/stage-3) Background assets are from free packages.

I have added POSTJAM versions with the following corrections: - character speed limit - blocked infinite coffin jumping - added 3 more levels what gives 6 altogether - more reliable wall jump - fixed the gamepad button order because it sucked :) - particles - some more sounds - finetuning movement maybe resulting in less floaty controls - more time on first level

JAM version is still available to play and download for comparison or for free flying on coffin

There's gamebreaking bug in FIRST level - try not to grab coffin but just push it in the hole - will try to patch it tomorrow

I was having trouble finishing 1st level. few more seconds would be ideal. Next levels were easier:) Nice visuals, slippery controller adds fun and difficulty. Would love to play it a bit longer. There's a mechanic that lets you infinite jump when you're holding a coffin under your character. Overall nice and enjoyable game. Miłego dnia!

Nice game, I liked the digging mechanic (similar to my game), but I think I played the game wrong... (I did complete it though)

@para-no dziekuje i nawzajem :)

@ogelgames Thanks! Yeah I know I will add some speed limits and conditions in postjam version surely. I already did some refactoring and now need to play other games :)

I think i didn't get the digging mechanic correctly as i was holding CTRL and tried to use the arrows but i only dug like 25% of the time i was pressing the keys. Made it very difficult to bury the coffin. The character felt kind of slippery too haha

The graphics are good and fun, really setting a comic and lighthearted tone for a theme that could be easily creepy or unsettling.

Overall, good job ! And congratulations if you made that in 14h like you said !!

Short, but fun! I think there could be a speed limit to prevent moving too fast, but I did have a blast zooming around the map and flying on top of my coffins. :)

What a shame that the theme wasn't "Higher and higher". "Coffin rider" would have made a great entry for that

Jokes aside, I liked the idea and had fun playing through the initial three levels. The controls felt a bit frustrating because I often failed to move the way I wanted to which resulted in failing the level. Faster acceleration and braking might get it a bit more under control.

Honestly, the concept is amazing. I reeaaaally like the idea of digging and moving coffins around, but the controls are far too finicky.
I'd play a polished version of this with super tight controls any day of the week. You should consider doing a proper post-jam version!

Having to figure out what to do based on the level titles was a fun detail.

A very unique game, gj :D
(I tried completing it, but I rage quit)

I love the idea an graphics but the movement is super clunky. If you manage to fix it there's great potential! A simple text based level editor would let you create more levels quickly.

Still completed it though. Fun game :D

Ok another quick fix in POSTJAM:

- fixed the gamepad button order because it sucked :)

@frasse @heremeus @pfs @theblindeye Thanks for the feedback! have you guys tried the POSTJAM version?

@nosfer yeah, I played the postjam version as bugfixes are allowed after the submission deadline. I just didn't include the three extra levels in the rating. I only tried to jam version because coffin jumping looked fun :D

Funny idea for a game! I spent some time digging and I had some troubles with carrying the coffin. So I would maybe tweak that a bit:) But other than that I had a lot of fun playing this game. Good job!

Nice game with unique mechanic and the potential for some nice level designs. Controls are not the best, which makes the game unnecessary hard. But was fun to play nonetheless.

An interesting game. I'm sure I've never played one like this before. I think you hit the theme very well. It worked out graphically. The controls seem a little strange (especially moving the coffin) but I honestly have no idea how better to come up with it.

I like the destructible terrain, feels quite satisfying to dig in it. The art is in style and nothing is really out of shape or place. The only remark I have is that the controls feel kinda sluggish, making it just a bit harder to play, but overall, WELL done ! :)

- The music was nice and matched the game

That is a really nice game! Even unpatched version works well, gameplay is simple, but fun, and you managed to think of interesting levels. Game looks finished, and I guess it was really tough to do it on time. Thank you!

Cool game mechanics! I found the ctrl and shift controls a little awkward to use, but the gameplay was fun. Good job :)

Nice! The music was very cool and i liked the concept. The player control need a little refinement as it feels a bit floaty but the over game was very good :)

digging mechanic is very interesting. I couldn't understand if I need to put extra ground over the coffin or not, but I couldn't anyway.
Controls are so fiddly but I think it is intended design. Fit the game

Player control was hard for me, most of the time I was clicking everything like crazy  I like the mood, gave me Graveyard Keeper vibes  Main character seems like a nice guy

Great idea - I enjoyed it very much, but the difficulty is pretty high T_T
Some extra time would be great, maybe replace the timeout with a star rating instead of a forceful defeat? A bit frustrating if you are near than done and never get to see that you would have succeeded if you were one second faster. Cut off the diggers wage and allow positive feedback! :)

Had fun playing this game and good idea for the theme. The main character looked great and I liked the music too. I think it would be more fun and less frustrating for the player if the timer was counting how long it took to complete the level, instead of how much time you have left, so the player can beat their previous times and not have the timer beat them. Nice and original work

Really nice game but I also think that if the counter was how much time did you take to complete the level would be more fun. I liked the main character!

Great game with well thought out mechanics. Probably the most creative interpretation of the theme among all digging games out there. I especially liked the level where you had to switch the coffins (the title of the level was helpful to know what to do). I havent encountered any gamebreaking bugs but jumping is a bit broken (sometimes I was able to fly very high in the air). The movement feel very unresponsive. It feels like walking in some dense liquid. Time between the player's action and the reaction of the character is definitely too long. I liked these few levels and I definitely want more. Can you let me know if there are any additional levels in the post jam version? See you in Miedź Jam

Spamming ctrl to dig fast, trying to shift the right coffin and jump out. Great jam XD It's nice and funny. The sounds and music add a lot. Great job! :)
