We need gold! by Ninsky
In this game you dive into the caves to see how far you can get.
You can only buy new equipment at the top of the cave so you have to choose between going through the early levels again or going for it.
Your goal is to get as deep in the cave as possible. The deeper you, the more valuable gems will spawn

Interesting concept, I liked the feel of placing a bomb and then having to frantically dig away from it before it explodes! Visually the game really captures that retro aesthetic and has some very nice pixel art (aside from a few assets that seem like they were intended to be placeholders).
The sound felt a little out of place to me, I expected some more arcadey effects but they were pretty realistic and a little loud.
I think the idea is pretty sound but just needs some more iteration and tweaking to get it to a place where it can really shine!
The pixel art looks very nice and overall the gameplay is solid! If Spelunky and Motherload had a child, I'd imagine this is close to the result :) My main feedback would be to re-evaluate the auto-scrolling, which introduced a lot of frustration and didn't really mesh well with the gameplay.
@boxedmeatrevolution I think it's more the child of "Spelunky" and "Bomberman"
The world desctruction work well. I think explosion are too slow, and flame missing animation. The shop is a good idea, but it's too long to get money (or I'm bad at this game  ).
Maybe change the character animation when is near to walls to show that he using an axe instead of bomb. Sometimes is not obvious what action the character will do.
Add more sounds to create a deep atmosphere.
Overall, it's a good idea and a nice work.
Items would often fall through the level when you dig them out.
Also the window size is too small for the game.
@BoxedMeatRevolution Yea, I finally got around to re-uploading it! Turned out to be a compression problem... I'm thinking about what you said about the scrolling camera being a bit frustrating and you are probably right. Currently trying to come up with a plan to tackle that. Do you think it will solve the problem if I keep the scrolling, but slow it way down? I'm slightly afraid that the game might become too easy/boring if I take it out completely.
But, then again, there are ofcourse other ways to make it fun again. (Adding a oxygen supply that needs to be refilled or something might be interesting).
@duck-reaction That's good to hear! I also got some real bomberman vibes when I made the cross-explosions . As for the slow bombs: if you upgrade your bombs in the shop they will explode faster/ have more reach, so you can more easily work through the lower levels of the caves. That's why the first bombs you get pretty slow. But your comment makes me realize it is time to make the shop more clear and the prices more balanced! Thanks :)
@quite-good Thanks! I was quite broken (exhausted) after submitting the game. But now, with with fresh energy, I'm looking forward to polishing it up and see what it can become
@someone Yea I noticed the glitchy items.. I'm not completely happy with the behaviour of the items right now anyways, so that's definetly going on the need-to-fix list!
I like the graphics, it would be better if it had music.
Its a good match for the theme!
There were times I could not pick up the minerals that I had freed with my bombs. It also was not clear what was gained by mining the minerals.
