DIGIDIG by NekuSoul

Nice weather for camping, but what's that? Treasure?
Time to start digging through the digits and get back before barbecue is ready.

My highest rank is A, not sure what is the highest.
Edit: Just got SS rank
Also I found a bug, you can get below the playing field and dig away the purple blocks
You came up with a really satisfying puzzle mechanic. For extension I would be interested in a mode where time doesn't count and you get a rank only based on the number of hearts you lose. But the current mode also makes sense, so you can't just think forever.
Especially in terms of being unique. I feel like this game had unique game play I haven't seen before. I just went for win, but I'm wondering if there's more strategy if you're going for a highscore.
Well done! really simple, really fun!
An endless mode with some chasing mechanic would be fun maybe?

did you invent this gameplay or is this inspired by a game? if not, that's even more impressive.
I also love Pico8 game so there's that too.
anyway congrats, very very cool entry!!

I just realized after I finished playing: this felt like a fun *puzzle* game but it could actually also be an *educational* game. The format could be used to learn numbers, or could be modified for learning letters, algebra, etc.
The problem with educational games is that you can always tell they are educational content disguised as entertainment software.
Perhaps it's the pico-8 style that gives this game its pure gaming feel...
I think you could be onto something worthwhile if you continue developing games with the format you showed us here
Congratulations on this achievement!

And having a fellow pico8 dev is even better
Was that sss win chime ever so slightly different than the others? nice touch
I like how the holes at the top remain between runs, adds a nice sense of realness to the world somehow.
great work! love seeing cool pico-8 games like this :)
