Deep Rescue by denilseven

[raw]
made by denilseven for Ludum Dare 48 (JAM)

This is my first time participating in a game jam, I loved this experience, it was a lot of fun I really wanted to thank my friend Miranha for the music and sound effects he made for the game 🙏 this is a very short game that you can finish in 10 minutes, it is not fully polished 2.png1.png

Love the sound, the fishes, angler fish, and just the whole game! Fun little deep rescue! I rescued the sunken sub!

THE MUSIC WAS EVERYTHING! The music single handedly made me want to keep playing. It added to the mood. The mechanics, the fear, the awe, - it was all there thanks that that beautiful composition. My favorite entry so far! Good job!

It was fun seeing all those little fish and that very big shark!
I love how when you get down into the dark how the lights turn on!
It's quite the interesting sub because it has the ability to fly, even with heavy loads.

A simple and mysterious descent to the depths. The beginning was slow, but it was a pleasure to encounter new obstacles and dangers as I progressed to the depths. I feel I got ripped off by a hitbox on my way back up and I wasn't excited enough to try again since the first 70% of the game moves so slowly. It's be nice if the early parts of the game gave the player more agency (as you have nicely setup deeper down with the hazards).

A very nice experience! Graphics and sound are really on point, the mechanics were simple and good to control. I missed a bit more obstacles at the beginning to spice things up a bit. The overall atmosphere and variety of scenery was really compelling.

Congrats on your first entry!
It's a shame you didn't include the mood rating, because I really liked how you tied everything together, particles, music, fish, dying light and illuminators, the constant sense of descending down. I didnt really expect any interactions, so mines were both awesome and terrible - awesome because it added some skill requirements, and terrible because you only have 1 hp, and dying means diving from the start, which is ok, but not really fun to do twice. Otherwise - nice music, solid controls. Well done =)

This was so cool. Like other have said, the audio really pulls this together amazingly. If you wanted to add some extra over-the-top polish, look into boids! It would make fish (or birds for that matter) swimming together in schools and interaction with other entities look super natural!

Looking good. I loved the pixelart in all the creatures and how the light reflected on the mines. Music was also great.

This game was all about the mood that light and darkness and mystical music made, and what a mood it was! :two_hearts:

Game was well polished. Only thing that stood out like a sore thumb was that windows-style button. If it was also made in same pixel-arty style, the immersion would have stayd till the end.

EDIT: also I would have liked to see a little bit more downwards, the mines came so surprisingly the first time I couldn't react to them. Next time I was prepared and made it all the way through.

Ship movement felt a lil slow to me but I really like how you added the decreased sight of sealife the further your depth. Very well done
