Super Space Explorer by DigitalCrest

[raw]
made by DigitalCrest for Ludum Dare 48 (COMPO)

A simple vertical scrolling arcade game. How long can you travel the deep space until the inevitable end? Try and collect as many stars along the way as you can.

Controls: On keyboard A+D or left+right arrows to move left and right, mouse for clicking the button

This was my first ever solo Godot game. Wanted to do so much more, but learning GDScript took a while. Some things left out were more advanced planets (spawning, color etc), nicer player movement and better start screen. At least this time I added background music, for better or for worse. :D

Tools used: Godot, Krita (art) and LMMS (audio)

A good execution of a simple game idea. It got difficult quite fast. The aspect ratio makes this look like it was made for mobile. Add a little bit more features and this could absolutely be a good mobile game.

Lovely game! I was surprised and amused of the huge moons jumping around, that was unexpected and fun challenge to try to dodge them! Nice and complete little game! 🌝

Great work, this was a nice fun space game, although being really tough. I only got a highscore of 9. I liked how fast paced the gameplay was, overall a nice game!

The limited movement makes the game more strategic than I assumed at first :D it's fun to try to gauge whether to go for a star or dodge faraway incoming moon! Got a high score of 17 with a very lucky streak at the end.

I like the graphic, looks really detailed!
Being able to move only left and right make is much more challenging than if we could move up and down too, I like it!

Nice job for your first Godot game! It's simple but surprisingly difficult and fun. I actually like the limited horizontal movement as it adds some challenge to dodging the meteors.

The music gets very repetitive, so I'd add in some extra melody and notes. I think it'd also be nice if you added in a gun to shoot the meteors, as you can get easily trapped sometimes.

Nice game overall, I got a score of 17.

i don't know how but i scored 52 in my second try, it was kinda fun. agree with comments that only horizontal movement leads to too many cases when you are trapped because meteors spawns randomly

Simple but fun, I liked it. Art is real nice but the music loop is too short and gets annoying quickly.

This game was surprisingly addictive. It's just simple enough to make you play a bit more risky and then get you wanting to top your high score! Great work!

FWIW, I liked the music you added :).

A pretty simple infinite runner. The fact that you can't move up & down make some situations really difficult ! The fire fx could be improved by adding some downward velocity, it feels quite weird that it makes a straight horizontal line when you move. Music is very repetitive. Art is pretty good though !
