Crab Game by jellycakes

[raw]
made by jellycakes for Ludum Dare 48 (JAM)

Summary

Unfortunately unfinished. This was my first time properly using Godot and it was my partner's first time using Procreate. We got faster near the end, but there just wasn't enough time.

The concept for this game was that you play a hermit crab who would find different shells to fend off dangers whilst travelling deeper into the ocean to find other crabs.

We'll probably update this page later with a more complete version, but I'm going to keep a version of the current playable state for the 72-hour jam. Feel free to rate my partner's art or something, because I spent way too much time on movement code and yet it is still janky.

Instructions

  • Move Left: A / Left Arrow
  • Move Right: D / Right Arrow
  • Pickup/Trade shells: Spacebar
  • Jump: W / Up Arrow

Even though it's not finished I would still like to play it, sounds interesting. The link you provided does not work. Let me know if you get it working :)

Do you have a build to play without having Godot installed?

Would like to have tried but don't have Godot - is there a way of you building the game across platform using the Godot engine?

First of all, if you want people to play your game, you need to deliver an executable. Source code is all nice and well, but without build tools nobody will be able to play your game.

Other than that... Well it is kinda bare-bones, just as you said. Movement seems to work alright, so game is functional, unfortunately as I said, there is almost no content.
