Into David by mosaic

[raw]
made by mosaic for Ludum Dare 48 (COMPO)

This is a very short game I made for Ludum Dare 48 in a couple of hours spread over the weekend. Your aim is to get into David as a ginormous Bacteria and kill him as fast as possible. Below you can see David. head3.png

My first attempt at ragdoll physics, so I hope you enjoy it!

P.S.: I could not include music for the compo, unfortunately, but I might upload a newer version for the jam tomorrow.

Funny style, but very difficult control.

Difficult to control. But I don't want to kill david anyway. Seems to be a nice guy

That was sooo disturbing! The sounds were.. interesting :D
I managed to kill David after I died, so I quess that counts..? The physics were strange, but kinda fitting with the bacteria theme, and I actually found that the controls worked well and jumping was (strangely) accurate. Nice job for a couple of hours of work!

Style is fun but I found it very hard to control.
I liked the ragdoll character and the silly feel of the game.
I would have liked if you added the arrows to control the character (especially useful for non qwerty users). I tihnk it takes a little bit too much to reload the game once you die (a button or key to reload the level sooner for instance would have been nice).
Anyway nice job!

Control is really difficult.

Poor David, he has bigger problems than bacteria, his body is full of spikes)

Borderline fumblecore - in a good way, I'm having a great time just controlling the character. Excellent use of comedic timing, I'd love to see this premise expanded on.

I love the characters! and specially the bacteria's leg hahaha he reminds me of a cockroach. Also the idea of David's body and how it looks! It's hard to control but so nice anyways!

One of the funniest games I've played so far. The little main character looks so goofy, plus the little sound it plays on death... The ragdolling definitely also helps with the comedy aspect. Controls were pretty though, but I was still motivated to try again, if only to see the little bacteria get flung about again.

Fun little platformer and I like the wobbliness of the player; it adds a certain amount of stress and difficulty that makes it more fun.

Although it really shouldn't be so hard to kill someone who's respiratory system is saturated with bones.

I love this take on the theme, very funny! The controls were very difficult for me, which doesn't have to be a bad thing (games are allowed to be challenging :) ) but in combination with the long time you have to wait to restart after you die, it became quite frustrating because I kept dying at the first bone.

The rag doll physics work really well I think. The wiggling arms honestly reminded me of spiders... pretty fitting for a deadly bacteria. Very cleaver application of the theme and a memorable game. Nice work!

Interesting idea, but I found it really difficult to control. But good effort!

The lil bacteria is a bit hard to control as he is flinging himself around. Maybe have a cut scene or just 1 frame to show who David is and that you are a bacteria. I thought I was David and then I killed myself wondering what I was supposed to do.

I like the idea of going deeper and deeper into a person and great attempt at ragdoll physics.

Nice. I love the character art, and how bluntly you explain the game's premise. Made in a couple of hours over the weekend? Impressive! Fits the theme nicely too.

The controls are a little tricky, but I can totally get behind that. Some games are designed with intentionally tricky controls, as long as they fit. It would be nice to have a way to restart more quickly upon death, however, so that once you've seen a couple of deaths or so, more time can be spent actually being in control.

Great and functional sound effects too, I love them. Especially the death sound.

Very well done on your first attempt at using ragdoll physics!
