They Call Us Monsters by TakeNapEveryday

[raw]
made by TakeNapEveryday for LD33 (COMPO)
A short (less than 5 minutes) narrative point-and-click adventure about being a monster in a fantasy game world.

Controls/how to play:
Use your mouse.
Click somewhere on the screen to walk in that direction.
Click on an object to walk to it.
Click an object when you are standing next to it to interact or examine it.
Press Alt+Enter to switch between fullscreen and windowed mode. (Windows)
Press Escape to return to title/quit. (Windows)

Because I ran out of time, there is no sound or music. While the game gets its point across, I'd like to flesh it out in a post-compo version.

Tools used: Game Maker Studio, XBRZPXL, GIMP 2.
I also used a few scripts from GMLscripts.com.

Update: Web port added. The display issues worked on for the web port also benefited the Windows version, which will now allow you to resize the game window or switch to fullscreen (Alt+Enter) without having the on-screen text being cut off.

Great art, story, definitely fit the theme. Kind of expected a bit more, but still good!

Very nice little game. I really liked the art. I'm kinda sad that it didn't last longer, but overall very good game.

Is the only thing that it's possible to do light the fire? Nice art, though.

Awesome little point and click. No real "Gameplay" but it was a nice little interactive story!

The wry sense of humour in the story is great. I really want to sit at the fire and cook Erasmuses (Erasmusis?) head and read poetry? Is that possible?

Nice art and responsive controls. Content was lacking and there was some slow down when walking back from the fire.

Good for the theme. I wish there was more though.

Thanks for the comments. The plan was to be able to ceremonially burn what's left of your possessions in the fire. Looking back now, I should have taken an extra day to add more content and submitted to the jam.

Sad and yet quite nice little tale. Surprisingly little to do, I found myself wanting to get revenge on these 'heroes'.

I really liked the graphics and the idea behind it. I'd love to see it expanded into a bigger game.
