It can be frustrating.

Interesting concept with the cards. But for me it wasn't really clear how I could fail. I was reseted when hitting the borders top/bottom but it wasn't really clear how to make them advance sometimes.
Maybe the momentun could have been use better, since I could go deeper and deeper without really needed it.
But overall cool game and lovely graphics. Music/sounds would've been awesome :)

I found this to be a GREAT entry. Very clever design, beautifully done retro visuals. If there were Music/SFX on par (or at all) it would be a near perfect game! Nicely done.

Very slick overall and I'll probably sink some time into it (excuse the pun). My only minor complaint is I kind of wish there was occasionally an upward arrow card, and to repeat what the other people said some sound would've been the cherry on top. Awesome work!

Great concept! Some suggestions might be more ways to build momentum, and don't put dead end holes that make you immediately lose, but otherwise great work! (Visuals and palette are gorgeous).

I finished it! It took me some times to understand the damages are computed at the end of each round or three moves.

It was fun to find ways to dodge the spiders and the graphics are very clean!

Could use a bit more clarifying rules, I only wrapped my head around it after coming here to write a comment. Could make use of a set hand of cards to force the player to move through an obstacle. Had to go back and retry after reading that. Very interesting concept though, enjoyed the play!

A very clever and innovative game. Visually this was amazing, but a little confusing. I really believe it was my lack of understanding than is issue with the game.

There were a few mechanics I still didn't really understand after the tutorial, but the idea is strong and the pixel art is very nice. Good job!

The art is very nice and the gameplay is good too, I think it needs some sound effects though.

The graphics are nice, consistent and overall work for the idea. The gameplay is straightforward and easy to understand. My main issues were with the tutorial and randomness of the hand. The tutorial describes everything except the two lines that kill you when you reach them. First few tries I didn't even understand why I died going forward. It could also be presented in a more engaging gameplay situations. The random hand is sometimes rather harsh but its roguelike after all. But I think something can be done to make you feel you're in more control rather than simply submitting to your fate. Overall it's a pretty solid submission.

this game looked really polished and cohesive - i especially liked the color palette. i think little things like sound and particle effects would have gone a long way, along with music. pretty amazing job given you only had 48 hours!!

Great concept, lovely graphics and very fun gameplay. A bit unfair sometimes because of the RNG, but overall super cool and fun.

Original concept, great execution and great art style. What's not to love? I'm impressed this is a compo entry, congratulations! It'd be nice to know how many cards of each there are in the "deck" to plan ahead. Are you looking to keep working on this game? I'd be excited to play a new version!

Okay, I needed a while do understand how to play, but even then the RNG breaks for me the experience. The graphics and the mechanics are cool though. Good entry.

Would be nice if you could make the game full screen as it was a bit small om my laptop. The minimalist art worked really well with the gameplay and allowed you to focus on the game mechanic of selecting actions to keep going down. Did find the cards at times seemed a bit random on not really helpful so I just had to keep using them until something would come up that would help me progress.
