![dive.png](///raw/fc0/a3/z/3c8f0.png) My oh my is that one absolutely addictive game you've made. Wonderfully simple and easy to understand, hard to master. Took me a try or two to really get into the groove of the movement but it's really solid.

Love the early 2bit Gameboy style graphics, also kind of reminiscent of the Game & Watch series which is always a treat. Great use of the theme since you're always moving downward and diving and it's really just a super well executed idea! I did say I wouldn't post a comment until I got to 50m but ah, it's just a little out of reach ...or is it? :D

@2bitcrook Thank you. I appreciate the feedback. Regarding the mechanics, I was looking for something incredibly simple such as one click or one button, diving and avoiding obstacles would require more than that so I decided to go with this.

I'm not an artist myself but 1-bit and 2-bit art are my favorites and it helped me found this amazing color palette that fits with the game I was making.

50m is awesome, congratulations!

This seems to be of a quality where you could update a small amount of things and make this into a sellable mobile game. The gameplay is pretty polished, and the graphics look pretty good. Luck definitely seems to be a huge factor in player success, but overall I quite like this!

It's a very simple concept executed very well. The music, graphics, and core gameplay loop are all really great.

Two critiques:

Upon game over, I would prefer to be put back at the start rather than have to click continue. It breaks up the flow of this otherwise very fluid and simple experience

The hitboxes are somewhat unforgiving

I could totally see this as a timekiller mobile app or web game. Very well done!

I _love_ the Game & Watch style graphics, they really stick out (in a good way). The gameplay is seems a lot like a vertical "flappy bird", which unfortunately isn't really my cup of tea. Despite that, the controls were pretty fluid after I got used to them, which is honestly more than I can say of flappy bird itself, and it was pretty fun overall.

@spydercrawler Thank you for your feedback. I'm planning on doing so. I'm just going to wait for the compo results and work on fixing small issues, after that, I'm probably publishing it on mobile.

@greg-the-egg Thank you for your feedback, is much appreciated. Regarding the game over screen, I completely agree with you, I implemented that the space bar would trigger the replay but for some reason, it caused a bug that I didn't quite have the time to fix before launching it.

I'm also planning an "infinity runner" style for this game, as this version has an ending because it was easier to balance.

About the hitboxes, I'm reviewing that.

@bkelly Thank you! To be honest 1-bit and 2-bit art are one of my favorites and I find it less difficult to express my vision, being a programmer with close to 0 experience in art. Regarding the mechanics, you are correct, I always tend to veer towards "flappy bird/hypercasual" concepts but I've tried to add a little extra in this project.

at first the back and forth movement mechanic was confusing and difficult, but once I got the hand of it, it was actually pretty fun. I found hugging the wall to be an effective strategy, but I often had to risk diving out into the middle to get more air. Restart button seems to have a bit of delay, and the hitboxes are a bit large, but otherwise very well done

This would make a really solid mobile game, I can already see the ads every 5 runs.
Everytime I started a run I discovered a new way to navigate, this is truly great. Simple and addictive :ok_hand:

I like a good simple jumper game. I like getting the hang of understanding how to hit space bar to go where i want. hit about 34m and felt good abt it. I sort of wish the depth had more going on as i went deeper tho.

Really fun game. I like the visuals and the one-button design. I would like to see a tighter collision box on the player, as it seemed like I died when not touching obstacles. It was also hard to overcome randomly being surrounded by obstacles when you cannot go straight down easily. Well done

@xenon27 Thank you for your feedback. Hugging the wall is an excellent strategy, however, the deeper you go, the fewer bubbles you find, and also, you easily become, trapped. I'm for sure reviewing the hitboxes once the compo is over.

@welby Thank you. I'm planning on further developing the game, add more obstacles, maybe some moving ones too and work on rebalancing as I thought there is a great barrier near 40m.

Great work! This is a simple idea executed very well.

The swinging motion of the swimmer is very expressive, and really made me think ahead about what obstacles were coming up, and how best to avoid them.

My high score was 56.57. I had to work at it, but it was fun to do so!![Screen Shot 2021-04-26 at 11.01.53 PM.png](///raw/f65/a3/z/40408.png)

A simple but very well executed concept!
And addictive! I love the overall look of the game, the music is nice as well, the character controls fine... Really a great little game you have here.

I would have moved the HUD at the top of the screen to let the player see what's coming from under, but otherwise a very solid game. Congrats!

This is magnificent, the art is simple yet beautiful, the soundtrack is lovely, and it's such and addicting concept. It's hard enough to drive you to get better and score higher, yet the mechanics are so easy that it's not even that frustrating. Great job !

Well done, fow now I am the king of the hill. But I want go further in that game and see the deepest point of this abyss. All the concept and gameplay are very well executed. Need some balancing but everything works fine. I love the music, controls and graphics. Nice entry!

My high score: 50.8. Aww, just barely not quite as far as the post before me! I do love a little bit of score competition =).

Great idea and great execution. Interesting controls that took a bit to get used to, but then I found my rhythm and it was fun. Visuals are simple, but nice!
