This is my first time participating in Ludum Dare and I really enjoyed the challenge. The main thing I learned? -- I still have a lot to learn.

Font is from Google fonts -- Zen Dots https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Zen+Dots?preview.text=Dive!Dive!&preview.text_type=custom#license

Graphics were created in Blender and Acorn. Game engine is Unity.

Sounds were generated via BFXR and are very minimal.
https://www.bfxr.net I'm hoping to do more with sounds in the future.

Thanks for taking a look. I hope you enjoy!

Simple and nice.

Overall an simple and okay little jam game. Some music and perhaps some more sound effects, could have made it much more fun to play. But overall a pretty good first LD game.

A simple little game that's really cool for your first Ludum Dare! Would be nice if the bubbles/rocks (grey spheres xD) were bit more clearly in the background.

@vederant Yes, I agree! The bubbles aren't obviously distinct from the hazards. Would have been nice if I'd have made them translucent as well. Thanks for your comments.

I like the submarine model and the idea of diving deeper and deeper. The explosion effect was good too. I would love to have some quiet background music nad possibly some heal mechanic. I made it to 650m! :)

Was nice and calming to begin with then I hit my first mine and jumped at the explosion :D

The acceleration and mechanics feel well polished and balanced carefully. I really enjoyed slamming down fast only to get blown up by a mine. I made it to 550m. You did a good job making a fun straightforward arcade game.

Our games are very similar :) Maybe thats why I could get past the 1k mark, I had practice! I really like the controls and the look of the game. Only thing I would change is, The submarine is very low on screen, so you have very short time to steer around the mines. Great game, and for your first LD, I find your game very polished, good job!

Thanks for the comments, @gimbalock. Yes, I should have had the sub nearer the top of the window. I think I'll tweak that after the event when I add some more enemy variants, some power-ups, and some music. First time submission to Ludum Dare and I'm a little surprised how rewarding it was to force yourself to finish something.

Nice little game, simple and well done. I was confused for a second when the bubbles didn't damage me but then I realised they were bubbles.

You have a lot of polish on this game. Very nice first entry into LD. Congratulations on that accomplishment! I really liked the feeling of moving the sub around. The floaty-ness of the controls felt spot on to me. Given more time, background music would have been nice. Overall, great work!

As a first entry, this is a good one! I tell you why: you completed it, it runs, and even though it doesn't contain that much, but that works! Nice job, you're on a good way! :)

Nice and simple. Controls work well in tandem with the submarine, right amount of gravity to feel in the water.
I like the look of the submarine too.

Congrats on the submission!

Nice little game, really enjoyable! The submarine's maniability is really great, and I must add that I really love the model you've made!
I felt that there were sometimes too many mines making it impossible to avoid them and that there hitbox was a bit generous, but overall you really did well, that's a good entry :)

Nice game! I liked how you could choose the speed of your descent yourself - "do I want a higher speed so that I can get a higher score quicker or a lower speed to make it less likely for me to crash into the bombs?".

I feel like it was a bit hard "feeling" your speed down, maybe the sides should descend a bit quicker with the player?

All in all it was a really good and fun game! :)

Simple but nicely executed game. It's an interesting choice to make such a game with 3D graphics rather than 2D. Congrats on your entry!

Pretty awesome entry. Everything looks neat and bugless
I like the 3D art style, perhaps some particle effect could make it event better
Good job!

Nice game! Everything that needs to be there is there. The submarine and mines look good, and the sounds are decent. Not a bad way to waste some time!

The one thing I'd say could be improved is probably the background. The water looks a bit sky-like, so a darker shade could be better. Also maybe some "scenery" (algae on the rocks, ...) to make the downward motion more obvious?

I like the floaty controls, fits well with the setting. 3d looks nice but some better colors could do wonders
