I realised a lot of people were struggling, and if you just want see what all the game has to offer, check out a video of me speedrunning the game. I complete it in 2 minutes and 45 seconds so it's not very long! As I spent a lot of effort coding, designing the game, drawing, and composing the music, I hope you only click the video after trying the game or if you get stuck though.

Good luck, I hope you enjoy, and thank you for clicking on the game!

Add in checkpoints and I would play this game until I could speedrun it in under a minute! Nice job

The art is god tier. Music seemed almost to polished to go with it. The movement was surprisingly fun although the shooting was weird. Cool game!

That is so good ! x)

It is a bit difficult to understand the movement at first, but it really makes it fun to play once it's understood ! I love how you send the player in a "forced tutorial", like you must understand the keys before continuing, that's a cool idea.

The visuals are consistent, which add a lot to the humor category. The music felt kinda out of place at first, but it made the battles so epic.

I died at the first boss, then at the 3rd, and didn't want to start over, so I guess some checkpoints would be nice.

Great entry!

This is awesome, I was impressed with how many levels you actually had - well I died by the dude that freezes time - but it was great! If there was a checkpoint I would have gone back to try again!

For some reason I got hooked up instantly to this game, and I couldn't stop until I killed the eggplant.

The controls were a bit rough, which made the platforming a bit frustrating. It got better when I unlocked flying. The bosses were the best part in my opinion.

This game has no rights to be this fun. It looks and feels like a ragegame (and at times, it is) but I found myself trying to keep on going forward.

Disclaimer : I got stuck at the "5 platforms" after the first boss and I couldn't find a way to pass through them. Still had a great time, congratulations on your entry !

I like the idea of jumping in different static arcs and the controls fit a potato (!). Hardly got past the part with two doors when there’s a target in a narrow hole. Feels like the controls worked well in an open room, like in the boss fight.

What a potato it is! The eggplant is insanely skilled! It caught me off-guard, but I had super fun trying to empower my lovely cutie potato! :heart: Thanks for the fun, and congratulations :v:

There are many things to say about this game, but how you built in natural tutorials into the level-design definitely deserves a mention. Very much enjoyed the JoJo-reference in the final encounter ^^

@robinfaury @txanevk @goutye @yourfather-milk @kitsomo Thanks for playing!

@taximan981 @budark @patvanmackelberg I was considering it, I'll definitely make it easier next time!

@patvanmackelberg That was the final boss anyway!

@tad-i-guess @kitsomo Glad you had a laugh!

@tad-i-guess @liammasters Programmer art baby

@rakart Try going near the edge and holding right and C simultaneously for the long platforms, and holding right and space simultaneously for the high platforms, maybe you can do it!

@asdehielo My favourite part to code and play in video games are bossfights, and I guess it shows!

I'm a bit dense but it took me a bit to figure out how the controls actually worked. pretty fun once I did though. Definitely a top tier potato based game.

I love the funny feel of this game, controls could be better, for example make c button independent, make player move only when in air and make player jump with space. You could also make your art crisp using this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9GilOgdW2M. Overall fun game (love death screen)

Found the controls really frustrating, but this is far from the kind of game I usually play. Didn't think about how a potato would move until I saw it moving and yep, totally agree! Cool concept and I think the specific moveset for basic movement idea is one with legs, it almost feels like a puzzle!
Great job!

I found the art and sense of humour charming, but the controls were simply too frustrating for me. This may be the type of experience you were going for, so in that case you succeeded.

Seems like from the other comments you put in quite a bit of content, so well done there. I got too frustrated trying to land the platforms after the first boss to continue. Great work nonetheless.

Funny af, and truly the dark souls of crappy games. I love how bonkers bad the controls are and how the game has this absolutely hilarious sense of humor. Was an absolute joy to play on stream~

The compo game is non-standard and it is the centre! It is a very creative game design concept due to the non-conventional playability. However the music do not match too much with the game, but it is totally OK for a compo submission! Congratulations!

Died in real life after dying in game. 10/10 would try again. Silksong will come eventually brother, stay strong! (p.s. very interesting movement mechanic for a platformer. i see a lot of potential!)

Control scheme is funky, physics could feel a little bit better (sticking to the top of ceilings particularly caught me off guard). The movement confusion could be solved I think by showing the little images with the inputs and how you move around *in the map* instead of dropping it all on one screen at the start of the game, but I understand with time constraints that'd take more work to put in. Also animating the player a bit more would make the movement feel less jerky I think.

Not bad at all for a first jam entry though! I had fun

Heyo, thanks for submitting your game to stream, and sorry I got stuck on the first boss. I think my feedback was in sign language, you know the 'technical difficulties'. Soo feedback:

I found movement a tad weird, like how I was missing the shots and had to do a dash to be able to hit the targets. Maybe the strength of the jump could depend on how long you hold the button for? Otherwise it was a really solid game, congrats on your first game jam!

**BOLD** choice for controls but you get used to it pretty fast and the game is really fun! The humor is great and you killed it with the music.

The main problem I had was sticking on the ceiling while jumping and even the walls sometimes. With that fixed and a little more polish I'd *hella* play more of this

This may be the prototypical jam game. It's janky for sure, and there is a lot of charm in that. The music, for instance, is really nice to listen to but doesn't really fit what is happening on the screen. I'd love to see some more fluid movement, less complex controls, and some sound effects and particles when you move, jump, and attack. that kind of feedback is what makes a game feel good to play. There are a few other things, like if the escape key brings you to the controls menu, then the escape key should also exit the controls menu. Also, a quit button is always appreciated. Otherwise, nice first entry, keep it up!

I think sticking on the ceiling was the wrong wording. I meant more that your character experiences a lot of friction on the ceiling so it slows your momentum a lot. Im guessing that's what the other guy meant too xD

Pretty hard but fun game. I like the idea of getting abilities as you go. While not the most original concept in normal contexts... it's the first time I played a game as a potato. My game was also about food so I feel a bit of kinship with game.

This is quite good for a first game jam title. A tight platformer requiring precise jumps and reflexes. I do feel, however, that it's let down by the choice of control system. A bit more forgiving and less key stroke based system would go a long way. And I love potatoes! :)

At first I hated this. Then I realized that the trick is to just trust the level design. Like, for shooting the target in that tiny slot to the left there's no need to drive myself crazy trying to get the timing of shooting mid-jump just right or anything. I just go all the way left until I'm flat against the wall, then hop right twice, and I'll be lined up perfectly to shoot left and hit it. Or that platformer section everyone seems to get stuck on? It's not actually hard at all; in in fact it's skill-free. As soon as you land, you just hold C and sprint right until you hit a wall, then hop left once before holding space and jumping right until you hit another wall. Then you hop left, sprint right, and you're done with it. Everything is positioned perfectly for this to work; there's no need to "line up" or time your jumps or anything like that. You just have to think in terms of making discrete moves and puzzle your way through the levels.

Also, it's funny as hell, and I love the music.

I have to admit that's the worst game I played in this jam, buuuuuuut I liked the humor and crushing potatoes. I hated the controls, I hated the aim system, I hated the graphics, but that's the kind of game you get in love because of its uglyness <3 Nice work tho !

The music was a freakin banger, I loved it! At first I thought it was a bit goofy, but it started feeling really epic the longer I played.

My biggest struggle was the controls. The *movement* was good, but I couldn't train my brain to touch the controls in the right combination. I think maybe removing the attachment between the modifier keys (X, C, Space) and the arrow keys could have made it more straightforward. For example, I kept pressing Space and C to do jumps in the direction that I was facing, forgetting that I needed an arrow key as well.

Definitely some good guts here, just could use a little polish. Great work for your first LD entry!
