Disastris by TerraCottaFrog
Control the monstrous power of Mother Nature in Disastris!
Disastris is a game of strategy, experimentation, chance, and watching things explode. You have control over each of the four classical elements: Water, in the form of a powerful tsunami; Air, in the form of a tornado; Fire, in the form of a fire-bomb; and, last but not least, Giant Monsters from Space! (In the form of a giant monster from space.)
Blast your way through five unique cities on your campaign of destruction, experimenting with each disaster in your arsenal to create maximum destruction. Try for a high score, or simply experience the cathartic thrill of crushing mighty civilizations into dust!
INSTRUCTIONS:
* F toggles fullscreen
* Select disasters from the bottom bar. The number underneath them is how many you have left to use in the level.
* Purple houses give more points than orange houses, and large buildings give many points.
* Trees are easy to ignite, while roads are quite difficult.
* Each disaster has special properties, strengths, and weaknesses. Experiment to find every disaster’s best use in each level.
*Tornado and Tsunami are aimed by dragging in the direction you want them to move
* Try for that high score, and have fun!

The biggest disappointment of this project to me was all of the potential that we didn't get to see for this compo. Things like disaster fusions (tornado + fire = ????), puzzle levels, mitigation teams (firefighters, etc.) all are begging to be a part of the game, but as it stands, it's wonderful for 48 hours.
Great job, and congrats on the entry!
Oh, hahaha. I left the game idle on the title screen, and now the giant monster is just flipping out in the middle of the screen. He must be suffering destruction withdrawals already!
This is a really fun game! Please add more to it later!
And I wish the monster had more than one frame of animation to make its movement a bit more interesting. Even a two-frame with it moving its claws up and down would help.
All in all, though, this is great!
There are some features missing that I would like to see eventually: opportunities for disasters to combo (this might require a greater set of available disasters), a greater diversity in level challenges, and the ability to shoot water up and down, not just left and right (this one was more inexplicable -- was I just screwing something up?). But, all in all, it's an amazing compo product. Congrats.
That was fun and very destructive, i loved the very well done old school design and blastbeating music... The only bad point is that it lakes a bit of difficulty but crushing cities for high score is fine too ! Nice job !
SFXs were a bit too loud for my old ears I guess, but it didn't take away from the fun of destroying cities.
Awesome entry indeed. Good job!
Thank you.
