For as simple as it may seem it's clearly coming from someone who's had and maybe is still having these same "conversations" with themselves frequently. It gives some insight into his character and brings some light to an issue that doesn't have a "proper" solution/fix to those going through it. I too have these same thoughts and moments of self-questioning that unfortunately have more ambiguous and inexplicit endings than concrete ones and I could both understand and relate to all the topics, especially how "school" was approached. It all boils down to a pretty simple experience but a powerful one to the right person. An experience that in its best and most hopeful moments leads our character to some sort of internal realization and even some comfort.
