Astromoles - They are where no mole has gone before ... by MisterGC

[raw]
made by MisterGC for Ludum Dare 48 (COMPO)

Help two moles to explore space, they are searching for new planets - but be aware, you always need to have enough water and energy to keep your journey going. How many planets will you find? - The result is a game with slow pace and peacful space atmosphere - unfortunately I had not much time for tuning the mechanics and challenges. Therefore this may not be the most entertaining app, but maybe it helps you to relax :)

HINT: This game needs a suitable VC Runtime, which is available at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads-2647da03-1eea-4433-9aff-95f26a218cc0 - Please download and install it on demand.

Some additional improvements/features I had initially planed: - Create more space feeling with the movement system (acceleration and inertia) - Dedicated animation for mining/harvesting resources - More planets and explicitly showing that they are colonized - Space radio animations (for example when you hear '... a new planet'

Tools used: - Qt + Clayground for App Implementation - Inkscape for Graphics - Garage Band and Audacity for Sound

I appreciate any feedback :)

Very nice!

I liked the art and also the background song gives a nice space vibe!

Very nice SFX "Yay! a new planet!" Whos voice is that?

Gameplaying Tip: U may stand in a planet to garantee ilimited resources and drag the screen searching for the other planets, don't know if it was planned

Beside that, I think adding inertia and gravity would greatly increase the game playing! Maybe also a bouncing effect when been hit by the rocks.

Overall it is a very nice and quite well polished game, Congrats!

The game looks really promising, but sadly my Computer wont allow me to play it 'The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)." Is anyone else experiencing this (and maybe has a fix)?

@pd-dev Can you please try to install a suitable VC runtime which is available at Microsoft's Site https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads-2647da03-1eea-4433-9aff-95f26a218cc0 - Does this help?

@mistergc That actually worked, thanks a lot!

**To my feedback:**

The game is really funny (if not a bit slow), and the art looks really good. Took me a while, though, to figure out that the red border around the asteroids is the damage area and not the "must be in here to fuel up" area. Although: Is there a reason for the grey outline around the map? Why not just extend the background to fill the whole screen? All in all, great game!
