Hi,
I think you nailed the fun aspect of the game. It's surprisingly fun blowing rocks up and shooting the enemies.
I also really like the graphics, they are unusual and great.

The jump is a bit floaty, but I'm sure you know that. If you're looking for a better feel in that regard I recommend Matt Thorson's (maker of Celeste) Strawberry project. You can see how he usually implements 2d platformer physics that feel just right.

You probably ran out of time, but a shooting and hit sound would've added a lot.

Overall really cool. I like it.

Nice game. Simple but fun, and some well thought out levels.

Interesting art style without using alpha on the sprites. Also unexpected use of the color schema. In some levels one can just ignore most of the enemies and sneak across.

I likedd this art style. Spectrum Sinclair esq. I also liked your end game screen! The control felt tight to me and responsive. I did get a crash when jumping immediately at the start of the game out the top of the screen - although weirdly feels right given the theme? great job, well done!

I can 100% see what you were going for with this. When talking about the games sound and art, the art is a bit rough but has some charm to it, and sound effects and music could have helped a lot. As for the gameplay, its a bit clunky but it all functioned and I think the high shooting rate makes it feel satisfying to blow enemies up. Overall not a bad entry, keep up the good work!

All I did was jump right at the start of the first level and got this error...

Error

plycommon.lua:40: attempt to concatenate global 'urightCorner' (a nil value)

Traceback

plycommon.lua:40: in function 'oneOfCornersInWall'
plyjump.lua:30: in function 'bhv'
game.lua:149: in function 'updfunc'
main.lua:74: in function 'update'

Once I got past the error - I actually kind of enjoyed the game. The controls are BUSTED, super strange gravity that goes up slowly and down quickly. But it was all broken in a charming way. I actually had fun jumping around and shooting maggots. If there is one thing that would have made this even better for me - it would be having no latency for when I fire a fireball - it just feels like I'm not the one shooting when there's that bit of delay between the key down and the actual fireball showing up. Still it was fun and a bit interesting to navigate the maze and maggots. Thank you for the game!

The art is very nice ! Even if there is no alpha, the gameplay is fun but for me the first level was harder than the last one. It would be nice to have more levels to play. Good job overall :)

The red tone was a bit intense, but I guess that was the idea behind... well hell^^
I liked having multiple paths to choose from, that added a bit more depth to the gameplay. It would be nice to have an easier first encounter with the maggots, so you can figure out that you need multiple shots to kill one. Adding transparency to the sprites would be nice. Yeah very simple game, but tries to accomplish nothing more.

Nice game. I liked the graphics style, the red and everything in squares.

It's a bit too red, and the big difficulty spike at the beginning is really weird (the first group of enemies is easy to kill, but then there's that one enemy in a tight space that's super hard to get through, and after this there's basically no challenge). The game is also a bit too short, but that's okay for a compo game. Good basics.

Адские декорации, демонические личинки и главный герой с огненными шарами. Классика!
Спасибо за игру ^_^

Simple game but complete. Levels are interesting, plus making mutliple levels is always a challenge in compo, congrats !

Good cool start. I liked the art (the drawings) style. Some audio would have gone a long way towards helping it feel completed. Also, I would suggest you make the players hit box a little smaller as I tended to bounce between floor and ceiling if it was tight and it was hard to get through small openings. Good entry and I hope you keep working on it!
