Overview For decades, ecological activists have advised we should maybe stop drilling deeper and deeper into the ocean floor in search of oil. We probably should've listened.

Gameplay Play as an avenging squid, the great almighty Kraken, who has awakened from his slumber to purge the ocean of the pitiful humans. Use your eight mighty tentacles to swipe and smash their defences (submarines, mine-dropping boats, slightly suicidal divers) and crush their industry (oil rigs, drills) to return the ocean to the peaceful state it should rightfully be in.

Theme The game itself exists in a conceptual level because of humans drilling deeper and deeper into the ocean floor. It's nebulous, but it's there!

Links Everything is hosted on one itch.io page. The source, downloadable versions for Windows/Mac (please note: I haven't/can't test the Mac port) and a HTML5 export playable in-browser. Please do be aware that the HTML5 version may run badly for some people, and I'd kindly request you try and download the relevant desktop version, rather than judge my game poorly because you don't have enough RAM. Thank you.

Great game! the news overlay was a fun touch!

I love this style of humor! I spent more time watching the news overlays change then fighting off the treacherous drillers more often than not. The one note I have is that when I initially started, the Kraken covered up parts of the controls tutorial so I had to wiggle around for a bit to read them all. Outside of that, good fun! Well done!

I really liked the humor. I feel every webGL game should have that agreement at the beginning. Good job!

The humor is on point! I loved the news overlay, along with the controls of the kraken. This was a really fun game. Congratulations

This game is really funny, thanks mainly to the news overlay. However, the game just felt like a mindless clicker with very little challenge, but it was quite charming overall, nice game. Not the best, but not the worst either :)

I really like the use of audio and the kraken look :)
Twin stick controls would increase the playability. The tentacles reach should be longer?

What I really like about this entry is that when I started playing, I thought "what the heck is going on?" See, it didn't take me too long to get really annoyed at those pesky humans with their annoying cry for help. 10/10 immersion!

Great humour and setting. Was surprised by the sound effects, but they boost the humoristic side which works really well. I'm always impressed when someone manages to add a cutscene in a 48h game jam, and that gives the game so much charm and identity. Looking forward to the devlog, great job!

I love the setting and the whole news idea. The killing feels and looks nice. Though wile the tentacles sometimes shoot out very fast, sometimes they almost do nothing. The movement feels a bit sluggish but that's to be expected from an octopus. Good job.

Hey, really nice intro!

BTW: You should put the ludum dare link on your itch io, that way people can come here to vote you

The intro was really funny and also the voiceactig, also I personally haven't had any issues with the WEBGL build

I bust out laughing from the intro. 10/10
In all seriousness, it feels like a fun little twin stick shooter variant. The kraken feels very heavy, as expected from such a chonky boi, but still gains momentum that allows it to move around quite nicely. One feature I would like to see is the kraken breaching water and up into the air, full great white shark-style. That could also allow for airborne enemies like choppers. Awesome work!

Wow, that was a very punny experience. Squid-tacular job friend! Voice acting and humor were on point once again!

I really liked The color changing to indicate your health, it was a cool touch! Though, an additional sidebar somewhere to indicate actual health would've been great because it was a bit hard to judge just how much health I had left. (Maybe there was one somewhere and I just missed it.) I also would've like healthbars (or some other damage indicator) for the rigs and ships, since it was difficult to judge their health, too. But overall, SUPER polished and well executed especially considering that this was for compo. Amazing work!

The graphics looked great and the Kraken was great too! One thing I'd suggest is maybe the more damage you take the more tentacles you lose? :D Great work overall

Nice job Zedd,
Including child divers was a bold move.

nice game, it is quite fun to play, i would say it is confusing when those stuff hit the squid, you don't know if he is dying or just getting damaged, but that's it, an interesting game

Finally got around to this, and haha, this was absolutely amazing, Zedd! Loved all of the comedic aspects - it was a really great reflection on your personality and it's all presented really nicely. I especially loved the polish of how the Kraken reddened over time, and it got me thinking about a mechanic where you become stronger with the less health you have, but that's an entirely different subject. Well done! :D

I was positively surprised after watching the video - nice job on both! I won the game although I was not sure if I did well until the end.
