4/5 stars!
Given the time constraint, excellent. Although the game feels hard to control, it is pulled up by the great art and backgrounds, visuals, and roguelike mechanics. Fun death screen messages too.

Constructive criticism: don't quiet the music for SFX, bind attack to the keyboard, and make the jump shorter. It felt unnecessary in a game where all you do is go down.

TL;DR: better than my game lol

Cool game. I like the idea of platform fighting and digging, but found the platforming not precise enough. This is an ambitious mechanic to tackle. Well done.

It's a nice idea, and executed pretty well. The upgrading adds a good replayability.

This is a pretty fun game! I agree with adjo regarding the upgrades. I think making it mouse free will make it even better. Well done!

Fantastic art style and fun challenging gameplay! I didn't realize at first that gold reset each run and wasted a bunch trying to save up instead of buying cheaper upgrades, I think it would be helpful to have a notification warning you about that if you have unspent gold. Overall really good, I love the game over messages

Very nice interpretation of the theme. I enjoyed playing a few rounds and seeing what I could do with the upgrades. It's a nice feature for a 48-hour game.

I really liked the addition of the upgrade mechanics. I helps make a game of doing the same thing over and over feel fun and rewarding, and helps to vary the game play. Great Job.

Impressive work - nice aesthetic. Addictive gameplay with some good mechanics especially upgrage features. Maybe too hard for me. Your project fits with the theme. You derserve my respect for what you did - and also for your impressive score in my game **Tunnel48**. As you said wisely, don't stop making games ++

✔️ Nice animations.

✔️ I liked the pace of the gameplay as well. Nice and quick; fast-paced.

✔️ The upgrade system also added replayability.

➖ I found it a bit weird that I would lose all my gold when I started a new round.

I had a lot of fun with this. Took me a while to get the hang of the controls, but once I did, the gameplay had a very satisfying flow to it. The fast and responsive gameplay paired with the extensive upgrade system makes for quite an addictive gameplay loop. The combat + movement mechanics also have considerable depth to them skill wise.

The only real issue is that everything is a little janky. Some deaths I had made me feel like i got screwed over by misconfigured collision boxes, might have just been a miscalculation on my part though.
Also I'm not sure if enemy projectiles should be able to pass through solids, considering how confined your available space is (even after digging it out a little). Then again, projectiles probably wouldn't really work at all if they weren't ignore solids, ALSO because of how confined the available space is... quite a tricky problem :D

Nice game over messages btw, really made me appreciate my failures ;)

Great work overall, feels more like a full blown jam game than a compo entry.

WOW! This is legit a good game. A little bit more work and id buy this on steam. Cant believe you dont have 20 ratings yet, its definitely one of the most underrated games in this LD! Good job!

I actually can't find any constructive criticism for this game. I... LOVE IT. Great entry. Seriously good work.

Very satisfying! Fast paced gameplay keeps the game exciting. Spikes at the top make sure that the player has to keep making progress. Upgrade system works for replayability, but I don't like it very much. Great game!

Really fun game with neat graphics and audio. Maybe just a bit too hard. :D
There are some bugs though:
Sometimes you can get killed at start. I guess spikes do not reset early enough?
Also it seems like you sometimes loose all your gold.
I guess there are some issues with resetting the level as well. I got killed few times while in menu.

Other than that it is really solid entry. Good job! :D

I played for quite a while! This game was super interesting to me. The art reminded me of the old ninja Shinobi game. The music was ok to start but in the end got annoying. As far as gameplay goes - I never felt like I was getting better. I think there's something wrong about how attacking downwards causes the character to jump upwards, it made it needlessly frustrating to stun some of the ninjas and bombs. Attacking sideways was way more fun somehow. I did really enjoy getting deeper and deeper up to depth 10. Really cool arcade action. Thank you for the game.

Hey, nice game, I like that mechaninc which you have to get point to upgrade. Music and graphics are matching for sure, also the sound effects. But I think you could put less enemies, at least at the beginning, or maybe easier enemies with less life. Other thing its to put some lifes in the game, not only gold. I didnt go too further, maybe you did put. Congrats for the work!

Ha! I love the goofy death messages! Great sense of humor. I only made it to about a depth of 7 before I felt like the gameplay was getting too repetitive. That said, I love the upgrades, I wish I could keep the money between runs!
