Within Yourself by impiaaa

[raw]
made by impiaaa for Ludum Dare 48 (COMPO)

A short little puzzle game. This was meant to have a story alongside, about looking progressively deeper into someone's psyche, and puzzles about moving objects between levels, but I'm no good at stories, and I ran out of time to implement cross-level travel (or very many puzzles). Also sorry that there's no web build, Unity seems to be having issues. Itch.io mirror: https://impiaaa.itch.io/within-yourself

Definitely very simple, but the idea of level recursion and moving object from one to another is a very interesting idea! would love to see what this would look like developed fully!

I actually don't think it needs the story. I mean, the effect of "going deeper" into the next level for me was enough to sell me on the theme. plus the effect is cool. I like that there's an undo feature but also wish there was a "restart this room" button because I made a mistake in one and by the time I realized it I had to sit there and press "Z" for a good while to get to the point where I could beat it. I also like how the game looped at the end. I think you have the beginnings of something fun. :D

I agree that there should be a restart this room feature. The concept is really fun though! I've always loved block puzzles.

That's a neat game. I really like the idea of each level going into the next level. The puzzles were all really easy but they were still fun. The character being a hand confused me a bit but that may have been part of the story you had planned or may have just been the design you chose. Nothing wrong with it if that's the case, I just think it's an uncommon choice for a character.

I also walked into the green strip which took me out to the previous level which I thought was cool though then I just had to replay that level, sounds like you had some feature in mind to make use of that but just couldn't get to it in time.

The only real issue I had with it was how the character moved. Moving between tiles was a bit slow and there wasn't really any distinct movement between tiles, if you held down an arrow key it would just seamlessly keep moving. At first I didn't even realize everything was aligned to a grid because of that.

Very fun game, the concept is interesting, the animations are really great, especially when you change levels.

Solid block puzzle game that fits with the theme well with the inter-nested levels within each other! I appreciate the undo button and like the quick and snappy puzzles. Was a short and sweet playthrough!

Very interesting approach to the theme, level to level transition is very well done

Overall seems like solid sokoban puzzle, great job!

Its a nice little puzzle game for a game jam. some of the later puzzles were difficult, but i enjoyed the challenge, some more mechanics would be nice for an additional challenge.

Pretty cool little puzzle game, the key + boxes mechanic gave it a nice twist. I especially like the transition between levels. The graphics were charming and straightforward, reminded me of old Windows games.

I'd play a bunch more, hope you keep working on it! Good job

I loved the concept of sokoban but inception lol. Wasn't easy, but wasn't too hard for a jam. A really interesting idea that might be worth exploring is actually pushing around the smaller inception rooms to make a puzzle sequence. That would be ssuuuuuper cool.

If your interested, here's where I played it on stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1018587431 we started yours around 00:33:50ish.
