Deeper Than Light by Cinar

[raw]
made by Cinar for Ludum Dare 48 (COMPO)

Deeper Than Light is a small metroidvania game where you try to find your way through darkness as small light sparkle. But darkness is a dangerous adventure and you should be careful about not to lose your light.

This is my second LudumDare. This time I've gone for compo and choose a risky genre actually. In last 48 hours I learned, 2 days is not enough to build a satisfying metroidvania game. At least for me. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to add SFX. Literally, there is no sound in the game. However, I am pretty satisfied with the other things. Visualization, core mechanics, level design etc. Long story short, I hope you'll like it :)

Update: I see how button is not working so here it is:

CONTROLS: -WASD to move -Left Click to shoot -Space to flash -Right Click to dash

TIPS: -Find your way through darkness -Collect all 3 keys to win -Your skills are locked at first -Shoot the blue mushrooms -Flash the white glowing grasses -Dash through walls -All skill takes from your light -If your light run out try again

Çınar,

Game On!!

NOTE: Webgl version is deleted because of the lag issues.

Really liked how you took advantage of Unity's 2D lighting system. Although I was not sure what to do in the game other than collect white light and avoid red light. At sudden points in the game I started losing light which was odd. Other than that, looked really cool.

P.S. The HOW button doesn't work at least in the WebGL version

Didn't enjoy the game as much as the graphics. Very clever use of light sources and interesting concept, but too monotonous. Also it's a pity that the HTML5 version is so laggy (I don't know the others but for me it was literally unplayable). Good job, tho

@vegmuffin Thank you for your feedback. Actually game is fully 3D but I wanted to create a 2D illusion so I think I achieved that. And how button supposed to tell what to do in the game, im gonna fix it asap.

@goldenpalazzo Thank you for your feedback. I decided to delete HTML5 version, it is too laggy for me too.

Game looks great and very atmospheric! Didn't realise you could shoot until clicking accidentally. I got stuck pretty early on though and couldn't find a way to progress so I had to stop. It's not bad for your second Ludum Dare!

I like your take on the theme and the use as a metroidvania!
